Toyota Tundra 2.5’’ Shocks from Elka Suspension

Alignment to spec, tires are next. A little less rake than I thought I was going for, but the look is growing on me.

Your calculations sounds right and you should be good to go with such setup. We only develop our shocks for 4WD (4X4) trucks. although they may fit on some and ride decent with lighter springs, the setup is not verified neither tested on those trucks.

 

Looks good, I got the 2-3" non Resi set and add a leaf in the back. I've got the similar stance with the rake.

 

Looks great. I finally did something about wheels and tires as well.

 

^^Nice choice on the wheels/tires. Trying to decide which route to take to get the rake back. Don't really want to go with a block or lower the front.

 

Perhaps consider longer shackles. Coachbuilder sells really nice ones.

You have any more photos of your truck after you installed the Elkas and TC shackles, but before new wheels/tires? Looking at the same lift heights, 1.5” up front and 3/4” out back, but I’ll probably end up keeping the stock wheel/tire setup for a while. Thanks.

Just looking for clarification here.. toytec doesn't offer this in a kit. All you need to install these is a set of upper control arms? Can anyone provide any recommendations of what to run these with?

 

If you purchase the 0-2” kit, you don’t need aftermarket UCAs (per Elka). If you get the 2-3” kit, take your pick. I say total chaos for your uniball flavor or SPC for the ball joint type. I’m sure you will get tons of different opinions here. Research is your friend.

Also, mcm fab makes a good uniball UCA. According to what others on the forums say, it is of equal quality to total chaos, but the uniball is a 1” diameter instead of 1.5” from the Total Chaos, and I think the price difference reflects that. According to mcm, they use the same high quality materials and uniball, just smaller. It looks like people are running the mcm UCA with zero issues, so if you’re into paying less than the premium for total chaos, but still want uniball, mcm might be your pick.

 

TC has a 1" ID uniball. You're thinking of Camburg.

Yep, you’re right. Thank you for correcting me. So, in that case, I’d probably hit up mcm over total chaos just for the cost difference!

 

Note to those thinking about doing the 2.5" on the front: You will very likely need to clearance the lower arm in this area to make sure there is no contact at full droop.

Yes. 0-2" kit. Elka says "some" trucks will need this, mine did. It isn't bad, but you do need to check it and be prepared to do it right then if it needs doing. Otherwise you could have damage and need to tear it all apart again. Hate doing work twice.

Roger. Good looking out. Honestly I was considering elka just because of the 0-2” kit not needing UCAs, but with that clearance issue potential, I’ll probably stick to kings and some UCAs and call it a day.

 

Understood. Felt a little odd taking the grinder to my truck at three months old, but the Elka 2.5 DC coilovers + Durobumps in front is a really great combination.

Can anyone tell me if there is a difference in ride quality between the 0-2 shocks at 2 inches and the 2-3 shocks at 2 inches?

 

If they’re both the same diameter shock, either 2.0 or 2.5, I would imagine not. I think the spring rate for the 2-3” kit is higher, so if you’re stock front weight, it may ride rougher. If I’m not mistaken, the 0-2” kit uses 16” 700lb springs and the 2-3” kit uses 16” 750lb springs.
