Well @RainMan_PNW I can happily say that snowboarders can go anywhere now and I’m sure the burning stares was clearly pure jealousy because snowboarding is better. Some amazing lines when there’s snow on that mountain.

Working on getting my kids good enough (at 19 and 18) to take them on a tour...hopefully next year. I really miss being less than 30 minutes from the lodge at Schweitzer.

Can you PLEASE send some of that snow down to Steamboat Springs?!? I'm gonna be there week after next and there's only a little bit of snow scheduled between now and then!

Heading to Copper the next two weekends and staying in Frisco. Finally scored the last day we needed for parking. Parking reservations are a pain in the ass.

Thursday night lights at Skibowl last night - it was 34 and misty/rainy. We still had a good time, but were soaked for the drive home.

View out the windshield in the parking lot at Timberline. Gonna be a stormy day... we’ll see how it shakes out. Sitting in the truck till we can actually hit the slopes... ready for this Covid shit to be done.

Looking good. We only got a fraction of the snow Jackson did, but that's about normal. I decided to ditch the crowds and me and my bro-in-law took the sled out about 14 miles and found some amazing snow in an old burn area.

I had to give up skiing. My knees couldn t take it although I think I could do still do some mild cross country; it s just been so long...The best ski trips I ve done was Heavenly Valley in South Tahoe, and cross countrying in Sonora Pass region

I understand completely. My knees are still tender from skiing last week. My wife and I took our dogs on a fairly long hike through a local state park. Going down a steep hill was very painful!

Was snowing hard all day. It was right around 32 and had started to turn to rain/sleet toward the end when we called it quits for the day. Temps are supposed to drop again tonight Amos keep dumping - they had 7” yesterday and had a good 6” on my tonneau cover when we got to the truck this afternoon.

We found some good deep soft stuff, played in the trees a bit. I only got stuck in one tree well. The Bone Zone run was fun, but flat light and couldn’t see the bumps until your knees were in your chin. I’m gonna be feeling it tomorrow I’m sure!

So, Timberline is supposed to get another dump tomorrow, then partly cloudy skies Wednesday. Would make for an epic day up there Wednesday before another storm drops more snow Thursday and Friday. BUT, they got hit with an ice storm today that knocked out power to their well and are shut down through Thursday while they try to fix it. C R A P - I was gonna play hooky and enjoy a mid week powder day. Dammit...

Try brighton next time in slc , it's my favorite. Kind of a local gem, cheaper lift tickets too. If you keep going past solitude on the same road you dead end into it.

I'm a snowboarder here in utah west of slc about 30 min. I only got out there once this year early in the season, haven't had a chance since. We went to Jackson, WY a few weeks ago during that big dump, but the lift tickets were sold out due to covid limiting.

I still ski at 62. Geriatric skiing is not like skiing when I was young but still enjoy getting out. This was from last Sunday in Vermont. I've skiied out west a couple times, it was awesome, would love to go again.

On one hand, that does really suck! On the other, I'm EXTREMELY jealous of you for even having those opportunities to hit the snow when fresh powder hits!

We have to plan our trips months in advance and HOPE for good snow!

I have become spoiled that way since living here. I'm a powder snob now. I usually only go up when we have storms lol

Not sure if it s still there, but there was an expert hill at heavenly valley called the gun barrel. The algle of decent was extreme, and the mogles were like taking a step and dropping 10-15 ft, but I had to go down it:muscleflexing: I instantly regretted it the moment I started down. I couldn t even take off my skies and walk back to the top. I had to go down, (basically crash and burn on every mogle). It was so brutal that when I finally made it to the bottom I hobbled to the lodge and turned in my skies.

Yeah, I found some of that stuff in SLC (forgot whether it was Alta, Solitude, or Snowbird). My knees are way too old for that stuff! I can't see how ANYONE could call that fun! The problem was that there was no warning. We were going through some fun stuff that ran us into a gully that had these steps. And like you, there was no turning around.

Funny enough, my phone reminded me of a memory 4 rears ago yesterday. This pic was at Breckinridge about 10 mins before a kidney stone event. Left my intermediate skiing buddy to haul ass to the bathroom at the base. CD34CD48-2FC0-49F7-BD15-87C0A8741E7F.jpg
I was a bullet down the hill to the bathroom. Turns out Breckinridge does not have a full medical staff around. But, the local hospital has the best ER I’ve ever been in. Not that I cruise ER’s but I’ve been in a few.
