Agree. My first check would have been the gas gauge. Dealers have sent new vehicles off without filling the tank before. If OP ran his truck out of gas, he'll probably have to pay for the tow and a diagnosis fee (owner negligence). :D

Beyond that, suspect any work done by others (aftermarket items).

Full tank of gas. I checked the throttle body portion of my intake like you guys suggested. It was slightly loose but meh not enough I had to physically yank it out of the coupling so I figure it was seated pretty good. So I let it go in recalls are currently being fixed for turn signals. They told me the issue was the butterfly valve on the throttle body and they fixed it. Wasn’t related to my intake

Glad it wasn't anything too serious. Sucks it left you stranded but don't lose faith in your truck you still have one of the most reliable trucks out there.

Heard that. Appreciate the words of encouragement. Just upset ISIS is running out trucks through sand dunes with a 50cal machinegun in the bed and I had a probably 15¢ spring go bad that was fucking with the throttle body and wouldn’t let my truck start. But it is what it is glad it’s fixed and I’ll be back on the road soon

This video is crazy. You telling me he never even checked under the hood? Would have been the first thing I'd have done. Take a few seconds to check battery terminals are on solid then another couple of seconds to pull that plastic cover off and would have seen the problem. WOW, would have saved a lot of time and headache.

Just a little FYI, the towing delay is due to supply and demand for tow trucks in the area. If you want a higher priority, join AAA as the towing companies who work with AAA are contractually obligated to prioritize AAA calls before insurance or other calls. Some places it may still take hours but it will be less than the norm.
Here in NW Louisiana response time is expected to be 40minutes or less and the customers get a survey immediately after the call is closed. The standard is expected to be maintained.

Sucks to the OP, hope you get it sorted out.

Filming myself for YouTube is 100% what I do when I'm stranded and have a low phone battery. How about you?

I happened upon one of his other videos recently... 30+ minutes of him talking about his overlanding build and gear choices. The more I see these grossly overweight, overbuilt rigs around town -- and there are a lot of them, with shovels, axes, water, fuel, RTT, recovery gear -- the more I chuckle. Thank god they're able to make it safely to the grocery store and back.

Then they lied to you...lol. How on earth could a company void a warranty because you called AAA?

Weird, I have never heard that you had to use Toyota towing for the warranty. I have Toyota, AAA and USAA towing, so I will call Toyota first and see what they say. The number probably goes to the local AAA shop and they get paid better on Toyota call outs.
Did the driver use the big meat hooks? If so, make sure you check your cv boots before you leave the dealer. Depending on how he hooked to the lower control arms, the hook can cut the cv boots. Happens all the time.

I wonder how much dust he sucked into his engine before the truck shut down. That would make me nervous.

I'm surprised how much dealerships are throwing the "void warranty" card around. For a warranty to be voided, the dealership would have to prove that whatever repair needs to be done was a direct result of misuse or caused by a vehicle modification. For example, they can't reject a cam tower leak warranty claim just because the vehicle is lifted.

I would have read them the riot act for that bullshit. The only recourse they would have is to refuse reimbursement which depending on your membership level, may not require out of pocket expense.

The Tundra has proper tie down points for small hooks or T hooks. No reason whatsoever to use the big J hooks unless it is a major accident and the vehicle is totaled anyway.

This is through the warranty I bought when I got my truck through Toyota. The lady on the phone was exceptionally rude to me she said and I quote “I know ya’ll be waiting for a minute but you gonna need to wait a few more it’s very busy right now” (yeah that’s super professional lol). Asked her who she called Thats so busy she said “I went down the page of 20 different tow companies and they all busy”. So I asked her which companies? Because I’ve called two within a 10 mile radius and both said they’d be out to me in 20 minutes. So eventually I got fed up told the closest company come get me. They did and when they arrived some “manager” from Toyota road side assistance said they would approve that company and allow them to tow me to the dealer. Crazy how I did this ladies job in 5 minutes when it took her 2 hours. But whatever. It’s solved. I’m over this crap for the weekend time to kick back and drink some beers

That’s the condition I picked my truck up in (I’m anal about the interior and it was flawless prior). I get it take what you get and stop complaining I got my truck back. I’m just annoyed over the whole situation. Had I known this was something so simple I would’ve had a friend yank me down the road and came back to work on it myself this morning. Oh well. 100% false. My crap Yota battery died last year. Called my 24 hour roadside with my insurance (Geico) and they came out and towed it to the dealer to get it replaced with another crap Yota battery. I'll probably repeat this every 2 years. YAY!

Has anybody on this here Tundra board EVER actually (and verifiably) had this happen on their Tundra? Or other Toyota truck? Hell. Or other Toyota vehicle? Ever ever?

What would be the physicalities of that "condition?" How is it "fixed" so it doesn't happen again?

Wish I knew. Didn’t think that fails. I think they weren’t sure probably tried to tighten the intake down again after I already did and they said that’s it because they couldn’t find something else. All I care about is I paid $0 for all of this lol

Well I've never heard of it. And I've never experienced it (I have had 7 new-from-the-dealer and 3 used Toyotas).

That would piss me off too. You've had a couple crummy days but you are absolutely sitting in the most dependable truck you can buy, its why a post like this gets so much attention so quickly, its rare. Because nothing is perfect, someone, somewhere will get the short straw. Today that was you. I don't recall anyone else having a butterfly valve issue so hopefully they diagnosed that correctly. Could have been loose electrical to the throttle body or something fell in and wedged in the valve disk during intake work. Either way, sorry for your troubles

Glad you got yours fixed OP

BUT for the IDIOT in the video
WTF- he sits/ hiked for hours/ miles without opening the hood - but after watching videos he wants to check himself before dealer- then finds the intake off from his aftermarket air box
    which he probably installed

I wouldn't have left until they at least cleaned it up. Anytime I've taken my wife's MDX to the Acura dealer for anything warranty or recall related, they've always given it a complementary wash and vac.
