So I remote started my truck let it run for about 5-8 minutes. Soon as I opened the door truck shut off as it normally does. Start it up again go on my way. Drove about 1-2 miles then all the sudden steering wheel locked up like hydraulic steering wasn’t working check engine light and battery light all came on. I was able to quickly pull into a lot (difficult to turn the wheel took everything I had) no throttle response nothing. Then it completely died. Now, I can start it, but as soon as it revs up it dies. Sounds like fuel pump I guess but I’m not on the list for that. Toyota is a pain in the ass I requested road side service I’ve been in the cold (5 where I’m at right now) for over an hour and a half. I know it’s not fair to place blame but I’m pissed. Everyone told me how reliable this truck is so I got one.

Put your Vin in to verify there are no recalls for your fuel pump.

Also check the fuel there might have been water in the fuel it happened on too on my range rover had just filled up and it killed my fuel pump. Dealer was smiling all the way when my truck showed up.

I see in your profile that it says "intake", do you have an aftermarket intake? Did you pop the hood to see if everything looks ok?

May be a dead battery.... dead batteries can cause it to stall, if it has issues, it will start and die right after as well... I do believe everyone knows that Yota batteries are trash on these trucks...

Not saying that isn't the case, but I've never seen a vehicle where the battery did anything after it started. "Usually" you can disconnect the battery and it should run totally fine on alternator power alone.

meh, subjective.... I've disconnected the battery and still have the truck die by itself, but usually after my battery dies it usually starts right up and dies right after, and I have to hold the throttle so the alternator can eventually recharge it after awhile.... and I have an Optima at this point and time... its my 3rd... technically...

I would try this, I remember seeing a video on YouTube about a guy in a tundra that broke down on the trail. Towed to a dealership to find out his aftermarket intake was loose and was doing the same thing yours is doing. I would check the connection on your intake

Do you not have towing on your insurance? I'm sure it would be a faster response than using toyota.
Also, you guys are silly to not buy a truck based on ONE negative situation. You think there is a vehicle company out there with 100% success, no recalls, no issues????? Get real. Toyota still has a great track record.

You said everything is dry, but did you pop the plastic engine cover off to make sure the intake tube was still connected like in the video?

Deciding not to buy a truck on one persons bad experience is crazy. My 21 and currently sits at 6k miles and just drove it 800 miles with a 5500 lb trailer and have not experienced any issues.

I agree with some of the other posts sounds like the fitting on the intake may have come loose

Any car or truck at a dealership gets a PDI ..(a pre delivery inspection) before the new owner receives it. It pays pretty well as far as flat rate goes. I doubt this was something missed by Toyota.

Not sure. But I’m gonna try to run up to dealership and try what you guys suggested. Also while there let them do the recall for my turn signals. That being said hopefully they’ll let me look at the truck
