Agreed. I traded my crewmax for a DC because I needed the bed space

I didn't buy a pickup truck for a big screen tv in the dash and a twin turbo that does little better in mileage when I tow something.

Might just be me but the mall crawler crowd will prius the tundra, not be happy and go buy someone else's truck anyway.

You've got that backwards. The Limited doesn't get any TRD trims in Canada.

I vote against plug in hybrid. 50% of our electricity is still coal fired and my power bill is high enough as it is. "Conventional" hybrid would work for me.

Is it the double cab that's important or is it the 6.5' bed? Since 2007 Toyota has saved costs by having 95% of trucks on one frame, I'm hoping this one if they still want to save costs in some way with cab/frame costs they don't go the same way, they only have 1 cab but 2 frames. So you could have a crewmax with either a 5.5' (like now) or 6.5' box. I know for myself, and a lot of others here, a crewmax with the 6.5' bed is the dream.

A Hybrid 5.7...I would assume that would bring the mpg’s just over 20. Same reliability with better gas mileage=pure awesomeness

    1) Stronger axle options/ higher payload tolerance.
    2) Larger wheel wells for larger tire options without having to CMC and/or lift so high.
    3) Twin Turbo V6 option.
    4) Diesel Option for sure!
    5) 6.5 foot bed on the Crew max model!
    6) Put the damn oil filter at the top of the engine like the Taco's and use a disposable filter..... and easier access to oil drain.

I think anyone expecting better than an advertised 22mpg highway and slightly north of 400hp (regardless of engine size/type) will be disappointed.

I really can't post my own list because it'll probably be at least 2028 when I'm looking at another truck.

Hopefully the rest of you get better navigation, under seat storage, better mpg, and bed lights. :)

In a way, I kinda want it to suck so I'm not tempted to upgrade. That would force me to be responsible and save me money!

But... it would be nice to have auto up/down in all windows and more payload. Of course, moar powah is always welcome! :burnrubber:

Really though, outside of those two minor gripes (even though I constantly harp on about the window switches), I really like my truck, even as "outdated and obsolete" as it is.

Thing is that diesel trucks get that mileage with comparable torque, they're just down on top end. A light hybrid is giving Ford 3-4 MPG boost (EPA rated, I've seen a couple videos with 28,29 MPG highway) so a more powerful electric motor on a hybrid system so high 20 combined rating isn't unreal, and mid 30's highway isn't that far out. Have to remember it's a much smaller gap to go from 28 to 33 (18% better) than it is to go from 10 to 15 (50% better)

    1. 6.5' crewmax bed.

    2. Have Alpine do a complete audio/video system that you can choose different levels as an option, on any trim level, as well as being able to choose a "option out" version which is an "aftermarket ready" version.

    3. User interface that allows full personalized setup of all options in the truck ( colors, layout, lighting, values, gauges, pallette, etc).

    4. AWD and full freewheel, independent and fully locked drivetrain.

    5. Sky roof option like a Jeep Wrangler.

    6. Airbag option, which includes onboard air compressor of course

    7. Wheel wells that fit up to 37" tires when desired.

    8. A real TRD PRO build level that is what we all know Toyota is capable of producing. Such as Sc'd or TT motor with all the bells and whistles as options. If you want a Pro with the basics like it is now, you can have it, if you want to have the hop-up, TRX killer options you can have them.

    Just dreaming here a bit!
I actually love my truck just the way it is now, but I had to do all the mods myself to get here. But that's part of the love too!

If Toyota listens to anything, I'll just like a 6.5' bed in my CM.. the one mod that was over my head to change. I know it's been done, but too much for me.

    9. Diesel HD option

    10. Please don't change the faith we have in our trucks by trending to "overly stupid smarts" (cylinder deactivation, A.I. LSD, and a remote start that lets you get in a drive away without shutting off )

I do not want a hybrid of any kind. I can buy a lot of gas for the premium I would pay for the hybrid technology. Please keep a big V8 as an option. Also, I think the extreme cold weather in the last week has taught us that electric vehicle tech has a long way to go to compete with gas/diesel.

There's 2 levels to the TRD Off Road and TRD Sport, both get a premium option which gets the limited goodies. But the trade off is that for 2021 we don't get a limited trim, and before that I think limited only came in double cabs. And now that I just checked the TRD Sport only comes in the premium package this year. So it's $4k more than a TRD OR is.

Not sure how to word this so people don't just say, "buy a work truck". But, how about offering some stripped down models. Better off road packages that don't come with all the other luxury items that drive the prices up, like the 2015 TRD PRO's were.
2015 Tundras could be had in the ~40k range. But people complained that they couldn't live without heated leather seats, moonroofs, etc, etc, and now you're lucky to get one for $55k.

1- 5.7l or some big v8 optional engine

    2- 8, 9,or 10 speed transmissions standard

    3- diesel option

4- coil suspension for limited and optional on other trim levels

5- work truck trim that’s isn’t just all cheap plastic everywhere

6- fewer total trim packages and fewer options to keep cost more affordable

So you are definitely in the traditional truck buyer category that article mentions. An what you say is possible, time will tell. I felt like it was a rush to buy my truck cuz I knew what I was getting and I knew it would be good for years. Got it during the Wuhan sale early 2020
