Does anyone have any experience with the AT Overland campers? I'm really considering the summit for my build. Any information or input/experience would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance guys and gals.

They are super well built. I have an atlas on order. My neighbor’s son has a summit and it looked great. What are your questions?

I have only read good things. I would really dig into what you want to do with it when comparing that to something like a GFC or other competitor. For instance as our trips gain in diration having a stand up area and heating system would be really nice.

And how many people are sleeping in it for bed size.
    That’s my $.02

I was hoping Alucab would have come out with a full sized variant of their canopy camper (I want that wall mounted heater haha). Have you heard anything about the a larger Alucab?

For what it's worth, we have an AT Atlas on order, scheduled completion is in August (although I hope they continue to run ~6wks ahead of schedule). We're moving from a CVT Mt Hood RTT (and prior to that, a Gazelle T4 ground tent).

We absolutely love the switch to RTT for a lot of our trips which include getting to camp late and getting back on the move early, especially in less than ideal weather. However, on a recent ~2 week trip in the Mt Hood we realized we really missed being able to stand up in the tent as we could in the Gazelle. Best of both worlds, plus a ton of interior room = AT toppers.

The GFC/Vagabond/etc were out of the question for us because we really like the idea of having the sleeping space and being able to stand at the same time; and were pretty set on an AT Habitat. Although, after speaking with AT at length and the fact that the Atlas/Summit have the available thermal pack, we ordered an Atlas

I would love to have an Alu-cab but doesn't look like they will be out for the full size trucks anytime soon (i.e. within the next year and half)

So back story: I'm deploying later this year and trying to time it on being complete about a month or so after I return. I'm choosing the summit because I want to be able to sorta stealth camp at time and also you can get a thermal package as well. I have a big adventure planned for when I get back. I am going to drive from Baja to Alaska and then drive through Canada(west to east) and will be living in the truck while doing it.

I spoke to a dealer out in Charlotte, NC. (My truck will be at my folk's place in Savannah while I'm deployed) I am going to have a sit down with the owner in April to discuss the build and options.

For the two members that have the Atlas on order would love to see some pics once installed. I follow AT on Instagram and they don't seem to install their campers, that often, on tundras.

Thanks for all the information guys. Please keep it coming.

That sounds like an awesome trip! What considerations have you given to rear suspension? Specifically leaf springs. That type of mileage you’ll really want that dialed in.

I’ve got a habitat I picked up in 2019. Before purchase I went out to their shop to check them out and see what the facility was like. Very impressed. Build quality is great and they’ve been super helpful and responsive to any questions I’ve had

only thing I did to my truck was swap the rear springs to icon RXT (option 2)

I'm looking at the Bilstens 6112/5160 set with Deaver left sprints and Spc UCAs. I'm haven't really done thats much research on the lead springs yet. So if you have advice or a suggestion I'm open to it for sure and would appreciate it.

This is one from a trip i did. I’ve changed it around a little bit and use a cargo divider up front now so i dont have to strap all that stuff down. I like having the bed open and I can move and adjust things per trip as needed. The front runner Wolfpack’s are great for stacking and staying together. The bottom one has all my tools, the top on has camp supplies.

Nice! I have a decked system in my truck. Now I'm considering selling it and changing my set up because i want to be able to stand up inside with the Summit deployed.

There are much smarter people on here than me, but if I had to do it over again (which I am on the leaf springs right now) I would load all the way up and weigh the truck. You will know both axle weights (I did this in Sept last year) then order your springs. Now that would cause a delay so the other route is to add all the weights of your gear and assume they are fully loaded and get the appropriate kit.
Don’t forget EVERYTHING. You are living on the road essentially so you’ll have extra clothes, tools (I hope), water, spare, fuel. Dig deep get everything and order the appropriate kit.
I did Alcan the first time and had a poor experience and after a year am moving to Deavers. I weigh in at just about 1k pounds fully loaded.

I really considered putting on in my truck but I changed my mind after I found out how much it weighed. I’ve been real happy with my setup. It’s simple and flexible.

I think I'm going to wait until I get the Summit put on then decide the best option. I like having it and sort of already have a vision of what I want to do or have my set up look like.

I'm still waiting for my 6 weeks notice that I'm supposed to receive after they start the build.

I hope to get delivery around the 4th of July.

I ordered the propane furnace for $2,500.

It's a huge amount of money, but I will be able to keep the wife warm and still using this all winter, for years to come.

And we will save $120+ every night we don't get a motel. So I will recover the money spent.

I can't wait to see any Summit in person. I have never laid eyes on one of these unicorns

Which model did you get? I'm probably just going to get the thermal package. The furnace is a little too rich for my blood.

Likewise on the propane heater, we added it as well. Considering $1,500+ for a brand name diesel heater, plus worrying about the install and cutting holes in the topper or in the bed for combustion intake/exhaust, $2,500 seemed to be a steal considering it comes pre-installed and just needs 12v and propane. We also ordered the thermal pack.

Also, we're working sight unseen as well, as I've seen a Habitat in person, but never an Atlas or a Summit.

Another question for you guys and gals that have an AT Overland topper: what suspension are you running? Mainly leaf springs?

I'm going to be getting Blistens 6112/5160 with SPC UCAs. And looking at the Deaver leaf springs. But curious what you folks are running.

My setup will remain the same as what I'm currently running, Aluma 2.5s, SPC UCAs, Durobumps in the front; Aluma 2.0 IFPs, Dobinsons HD leaf pack, Toytec adjustable shackles, and SumoSprings in the rear. If the rear rides too low after the rear bumper goes on, the plan is to move the shackle to the taller hole

I am still running stock suspension.

I'm planning on running fast and light. Trying to keep my weight down.
So no build out planned in the bed.

With the topper under 400 lbs, I hope the stock suspension will suffice.

    We see
