Trd lift package

So I read an article that the Tacoma is now going to have a TRD lift package available through the dealerships. Is this going to be available for the tundra as well? Because right now all of us Tundra owners are getting shunned away from Warranty work for lifting our trucks. It says it’s the only lift approved for a Toyota safety sense

You do realize that you already have a factory lift like the one you described for the Tacoma minus the +1 rear which you would never notice anyway. And the fact that it is Toyota installed and compatible with the TSS system right?

 

Thanks for bringing it to my attention and never really realized it. Lol. I know I do but others don’t. Plus I put one on my 2018 which drew complaints from Toyota. Just mentioning it for the people who don’t have a trd pro.

 

Plus it sounds more like a money grab to me. They know people are going to do it, so they’re trying to get it through them only saying it won’t void the warranty. You can get the same geometry with any coil over set up and a CB shackle.

 

I don’t doubt that it’s a money grab but ultimately it’s a good idea. Especially since it’s becoming tough to find a semi decent mechanic let alone one that is experienced in real suspension lifts (not spacers and such...). With that said I am sure it’s going to be EXPENSIVE.

But if not installed by the dealership. Will it then void the warranty?

 

What’s the deal with the fog light removal and replacement covers?

I know some dealerships that will take you over the coals for suspension work but I also know a few that are very reasonable. Obviously the value isn’t here in the amount you spend... But in the value of being able to go back to the dealer to figure out issues that a OEM lift installed by Toyota will present. The only suspension change that I made in which I didn’t have to track down gremlins was from a 1/4 (1/2 lift) Toytec spacer. All the Bilsteins, EIbach (best ride of all), OME, leaf springs, and aftermarket coils all caused small issues which required trips to a mechanic.

 

The kit is more to tempt dealers to STOP doing the 6” lift kits that cause toyota a lot of headaches.

our dealer is considering doing these on tacomas now instead of the 6” lifts (and I pray they do)

 

In some states the lift is enough that having fog lights is illegal due to their height.. it’s stupid

 

Doesn’t the TRD pro have fog lights? Is it not sold in some states?

guess the difference is between the 1” level and 2” on this lift. I had thought they were the same lift amount in the front.

 

Seems like a good move for Taco owners who care about going to dealerships. For those who don't, a set of 5100s, a pair of blocks and u bolts and you're set for half the price. Not sure what the fancy sensor or recalibration would cost.

 

Considering my TRD Fox kit was $3k and included front springs but no grille insert, this seems like a decent deal.

 

i believe since the TRD pro was factory that tall its different? i genuinely dont know these laws well.
