Any way to lower the seat more?

I just got my truck and I know it will take some getting used to, but I feel like I sit really high in the seat. I have it as low as it will go and I still feel like my head is about to hit the roof and that I'm being pushed forward. Any one else experience this? I wonder if there is a way to replace the brackets under the seat to shorter ones? Another couple inches would make a big difference.

Haha.. no, I'm only 6'1. Like I said, I'll just have to get used to it. Other trucks I've had, the seat lowered more. I feel like the arm rests are way below me. Again though, I've only had it a day, so I'm obviously jumping the gun. The truck is too bad ass to worry to much about it, but just thought I'd ask.

 

Yeah it's all about what you're used to. I'm sure you will get a feel for it in no time! Have you tried moving the seat back a little bit?

 

Yeah, I need to adjust a little more along with the steering wheel. I'll get used to it, just thought I'd ask on the bracket thing and if anyone else felt like I did at first.

 

I called Parts and there are no lower brackets for it. He did say to bring it in, that it could be the motor in the powered seat, maybe isn't allowing it to go down as low as it should. I did have the Katzkin put in, maybe something is blocking it? Humm...

 

I'm 6'4" and I cannot get comfortable in my 2018 Tundra Crew Max. It has the dealer installed leather bench seats, which are manual. The seat is so high that my eyes are level with the visor. I cannot see street lights changing to green unless I lean my head down to the dash, and strain to look up at them. It really sucks. My 2003 Tundra was a bench also and had a manual pump to lower the seat. I had no idea that feature was missing on 2018 models. I complained to the dealer the next day, but they don't care at all. If I lean the seat further back, then my hands don't reach the steering wheel. I actually hate my truck, which I thought would be impossible.

 

WTF? This is the second post in a couple of days I have seen related to this. Has the geometry of the Tundra changed that much? I have a manual split bench seat in my 2013 and I am 6'8". I have no problems at all with the cab - it is actually one of the reasons that I bought the truck. You guys just got super long torsos or something? 6'4" with a 21" inseam?

 

I'm 6'2" and often wear a hat, I have no problem with headroom, it was part of the reason I traded my Taco for a Tundra!

 

Im 6.4 and have the same problem. It sucjs but i haven’t bothered to look for myself to see if i can modify it yet.

What year Tundra do you have?

I had an '11 Platinum and my seat was very high. I'm 6'2 and couldn't come close to sitting up straight without my head hitting the sunroof. I verified my seat was all the way down with Toyota several times. It drove me nuts enough to get rid of it.

I then bought a '16 SR5 with no sunroof and power drivers seat. The seat sits lower and I have tons of headroom. I recently sat in a customer's '18 Limited with a sunroof and the seat goes lower than my '16 does by a lot. Probably to clear the sunroof. I was surprised on how much lower it can go.

I test drove several..I found a limited that had this issue. the seat was very high.. & couldn't go any lower, I'm 6'4" my head was touching the roof.
the dealer was unwilling to even look at fixing the seat so I moved on to the next dealer.

Same gripe here I'm only 6'2 but with the sun roof my head is real close to the headliner. My problem is I have short legs for being this tall, it's all upper body. I have just learned to deal with it and wish my limited was available without the sunroof and I would gain some more room

 

I'm 5' 7", I can damn near jump up and down in my cab.

Ahh - it's the sunroof. I never get vehicles with a sunroof. Always kills the headroom. That is a luxury for short people.

 

You could always make custom brackets that sit the seat lower.

Cage it while you're in there.

 

Measuring from the back of the drivers seat to ceiling is 39.5 inches on my 2018 Crew Max Limited with the seat lowered all the way. The passenger seat has 38.5 inches. I do not have a sunroof. I am 6'4" and this gives me about 3 inches between my head and the ceiling from the drivers seat.

I'm 6'2" and was going back and forth with the SR and SR5 because of the power seat thinking it would lower more then then manual seat. They're was no difference which made me go with the cheaper SR since it had everything else I wanted.

 

Reviving an old thread sorry, but I just bought a 16 TRD PRO and while I love it. I am worried I'm going to have to get rid of it in short order because the seat is so uncomfortable. And my main issue with it is that the seat doesn't go down far enough.
Does anyone know if seats from another Tundra go down farther and if so can I swap them. I'm 5'10, so headroom isn't an issue, but I'm like right on the steering wheel (my right knee is only a few inches from the ignition) and my knees get sore from my legs dangling.

If I bring the front of the seat down then my lower back gets sore from holding myself in the seat.

It's a pretty terrible seating position I gotta say, but I absolutely love the truck otherwise and hoping to find something I can do about it.

 

I’m right there with you. I have a 16 sequoia sr5 with a moon roof. I’m 6’2”. I can’t have my seat as upright as I would like without my head hitting the ceiling. When I put the seat back so I can see out of the windshield I can’t wear a hat. I was looking under the seat and there appears to be more than enough room for the seat to come down more. If I had the skills I would attempt to remove an inch out of the seat mounting bracket. That would help tremendously. Sounds like this could be a lucrative opportunity for someone with some fabrication skills. I know I would be happy to shell out some cash to get my seat a little lower. Even my wife who is 5’5” doesn’t raise the seat when she drives the thing. I’m not sure what Toyota had in mind when they designed that setup. It certainly wasn’t taller folks.

 

Maybe you can get a power seat out of a 1794 or something? my seat is so adjustable I can't imagine that you couldn't find a position that you liked. For the record, I'm 5'10 and have a bad back, so I keep the seat all the way up, with the front tilted all the way down and the lumbar cranked. I don't hit my head, (though it is a bit close with a hat on) and I don't slide forward either.

 

I can use a little more seat height having a 6" lift and being 5'7. Good thing I have a front camera.

 

I had the same feeling switching from my 2010 F-150 to my 2019 Tundra. My ford had manual sliding drivers seal with no horizontal adjustment. Even at the lowest setting I felt like I was sitting higher that the ford. By no means am I tall at 5'11", but dont notice it 2 years later!

 

Going back to DIY Dad, having power seats do not change anything. This is my second 2010 Tundra and the seats are very high off of the floor at their lowest point to me and I am only 5’8”s! It’s not just an in-the-ceiling vision thing, it isn’t comfortable sitting that high, no matter how tall you are. And this is almost 2 years out, btw.
