My daughter has an old P&B house about the same vintage as yours in the Heights area of Houston. After my SIL had raised and leveled the pier and beam foundation, I think he had sprayed foam insulation installed between the joists and rafters. Pricey but effective. Inside walls in those old houses are wallpapered ship-lap unless they've been renovated.

Here are pics of two empty vehicles we passed on our way back from Austin today. Most people were driving for the conditions but there were a few driving like icy roads don't exist.

Easy... I was kidding - hence the "haha"

A Texan told me a few years ago that 75% of Texans didn't know where Canada was when asked on the street.. not sure if true?!?

If it is true, then how would I expect them to know where Justin Bieber is from?!!..

Unfortunately I know who the Cowboys, Jerry Jones, and Bill O' Brien are :(.

I'd like to post a clip from Talking to Americans for you but, since he talks to a couple governors, I might get in trouble for "politics". Better look it up yourself on YouTube.

As young Texans, long ago, we grew up with RCMP officers in full dress uniform on the back of our cereal boxes. I can still remember: Brown smokey-bear campaign hat, scarlet tunic with brass buttons, black jodhpurs with gold stripe, riding boots, and a gold cord lanyard for that ancient Webley in a brown, flap-covered holster on a Sam Browne belt. I was an adult before I realized they didn't dress like that all the time. :D

How old was this Texan anyway? He was probably the product of more recent "reformed" education. By now, they've probably taken the politics out of geography and social studies. (Think about that for a second.) I always believed Canadians were a tough, gritty, rugged people surviving in an abysmal climate. I believed they were descended from trappers, traders, mountain men and warriors. I say again: Are you sure Justin Beiber is Canadian??!! :notsure:

I wish. Those lithium-ion batteries burn HOT. At least I wouldn't be cold anymore. I skated out to our alley to throw a bag of trash in the can and I saw a little bird hopping around, confused. I'm pretty sure it was tweeting "What the fuck! I thought I flew south, eh?!" (I'm assuming it was Canadian because it looked friendly).

You must be from Ontario - you sound like one of those angry and confused French-Canadians. :boink:

I didn't want any sympathy (besides guilting you a little bit for Bieber) - I was just asking for a tiny favor. Obviously it was too much to ask...

So you're mad about your hockey team?

Yeah, that doesn't sound very pleasant. I experienced super cold negatives in Michigan once and that was enough for me. Off to find my jacket and big-boy pants.
