2005 Double Cab 4x4 Daily Driver (warning: pic heavy, little OT)

Looks great. I wish mine could be this clean but too much time in the woods, it would never last...

 

Buttoned up my leather install with heated passenger seat and heated plus ventilated driver’s seat. The charcoal color is a perfect match and the black accent stitching is perfect. Absolutely love the ventilated driver’s seat. It’s the best of both worlds - a vintage, simple truck with modern conveniences. I have to admit, there is something so satisfying about the 16 year old 2UZ rumble as I pull up next to my colleagues at work in their (really) fancy cars. I almost feel smug.

Next up, going to take off my 255/80/17 ST MAXX and put on 285/70/17 Wildpeak AT3w. Also going to probably swap a Lexus steering wheel soonish.

 

Installed some door hinge reinforcements today.

 

Aren't those ST MAXXs relatively new....did you not like them or just want different size?

 

Yeah they’re almost new. I wanted both a quieter tire and a wider tread. Had wildpeaks on my 3rd Gen and loved them.

 

Wish you were closer, I'd take those ST MAXXs off your hands...

 

Any plans to visit to sunny Florida? I wouldn't mind holding them for a couple weeks if you really wanted them. Especially after your help with the seats.

Just picked it up from the shop. Need to get the rock rings back on and desperately needs a wash. But I’m really happy with it. I love these tires - so smooth and quiet for a long-life load range E A/T. I’ve had many different brands of A/T’s and M/T’s and these are top notch. So much quieter than the ST MAXX. Those are good tires too, but they are almost as loud as an MT.

Decibel readings are the same stretch of road, accelerated from a stop, then screenshot at steady throttle 35 mph with all stereo and climate off. Big difference. The peak noise from acceleration on the falken test was actually from my exhaust - way louder than the tires!

It's funny, looking at those treads, you wouldn't think there would be a significant difference in road noise...

 

Yeah, it’s pretty amazing. Even after 25k on a set on a different truck, they were super quiet. And there was no qualitative wear either. The compound is just fantastic.

 

Cluster evolution. I couldn’t stand the OE green cluster. Some forum research lead me to buy a very specific Sequoia cluster which would work in the double cabs. It was nice, as you can see a few posts prior, but I couldn’t get the TPMS light to go off and would have had to change out the coolant temp sensor. I just didn’t feel like doing it, so I decided to sand some of the green off my original faces. I like the multicolor that I had seen from @empty_lord and others.

Yea, I have them on in 255/80r17, happy so far. I was thinking about the STTs in 255/85r16s for my 4runner (currently running LC80 wheels with 285/75r16 BFGs)...but I've been thinking about going 17s and runnin 255/80r17s on that as well...

 

What did you do to clean your AC?? And also where in the engine bay is the AC condenser located(sorry for my inexperience!)? Wondering since mine takes almost full blast in summer to cool. Sometimes I just deal with it and use the windows instead.

 

This video shows how to access it under the dash on the inside. I used an evaporator cleaning spray. I'll try to post a pic of the product I used when i get home in the morning. I'd also recommend a recharge if you're not cooling well!

Where did you get these? I know my back door won’t stay open will this help that?

 

I got them from a guy on the FB group FIRST GEN TUNDRAS. This only reinforces the door so the mechanism doesn't rip the sheet metal out, but won't add any strength to the door stays in terms of holding the door open. If I were you, I'd get some new stays and then add a set of these to make sure they don't rip out of your door.

 

Started a new project today, wrapping the chrome. Only had time to do the front bumper but the wrap I got is a great match. And wrapping is pretty easy thanks to YouTube.
