Perhaps, but lifted trucks make it easy for these criminals to do that voodoo they do so well.

They target lifted trucks for ease of working underneath without a jack. They also target Priuses because the cat has seen little use compared to non-hybrid vehicles.

WHATEVER YOU DO, DON’T LIFT YOUR PRIUS.

It's easy to get underneath a stock Tundra. You don't need a jack but would make things easier than it is already. Simple solution. Crack down on illegal purchases at junkyards. Heavy fines and jailtime. Scrutinize all recycle yard records and fine violations accordingly. Take away operating permit if needed. Thieves would have no one to sell to.

    Yep!

My local Toyota dealership got hit earlier this week... 7 new Tundra were stripped of their cats. The obvious solution is to crack down hard on people buying cats from thieves, but that will never happen.

Last year in Miami a metal recycler got busted because they didn't have enough common sense to call law enforcement. Thieves were stealing the metal hurricane panels off of houses and selling them. That's pretty low, but a thief will steal anything.

The city of Aurora and Denver are cracking down hard. Have been for some time. There is a recycle place near me. Atlas. They get unannounced inspections often. This is for copper. Can't even sell copper to the recycler without a valid ID and fill out paperwork. This place doesn't accept cats from the general public. There are only a few places in Denver Metro that even deal with cat recycling. Valuable so it takes extra security measures. These places don't want to lose their business. People bitch enough then shit happens. Insurance companies put pressure on the powers that be too. There's been a difference made here but yes it's hard to find all the illicit buyers that will truck the stolen cats out of state. Usually to Kali. No surprise there.

This sounds like a good reason to go ahead and remove your cats. Imagine the thieves surprise when they get under your truck with their Sawzall looking... and looking..... and wondering where the damn cats are! Hopefully this will give you enough time to grab the gun.... and maybe an extra mag just in case and go handle a very common problem in America.

They don't care about lift or not. They will just do this. Attach a tow strap to the opposite side and flip it onto it's roof. You can see the strap if you zoom in to the blue truck

There were about 15 vehicles like this on this property.

All wheels and catalytic converters removed

human scum got both of mine yesterday.

a coworker's Tundra was parked 2 spots over, and they got his passenger side. started on the driver side and something scared them off.

another coworker's Tundra was parked about 7 spots over, and i am sure he was "next in line". lucky for him, his was not touched.

    4-6 weeks backorder. toyota estimate = $9,475

i hope the thieves catch on fire!

now the search for skids or some other means of protection begins.

all three of us were at work, EARNING our living.

You need to call Desert Eagle offroad and get on the list for the skid plate.

No problem, you might want to call the parts department and order yours over the phone like I did cause Desert Eagle sold them 50 and they are going fast. Unfortunately for me the skid plate does not work with my Pro Comp lift and had to return it.
