    Hello all,

This is my first post on this forum. I currently have a 2013 Toyota Tundra that has about 102k miles on it. I love the vehicle and it has never given me any problems. A little while back, I had a gasket replaced in my engine. I believe it was a head gasket. I brought it in for an oil change and they said they found a crack or a leak in the engine and it was just a gasket, it was under warranty so that's nice. Ever since I had that done, I have had a problem with it starting every once in a while. Sometimes it is only once a day, sometimes it doesn't happen that day and sometimes it happens multiple times in a day. When it does end up starting, the exhaust is real rich like it has a ton of gas coming out. I was talking to a mechanic and they said that possibly it could be an O2 sensor going bad but not throwing any codes. I was just wondering if anybody has had the same issues. It has been bothering me the past couple of days. If any one can help that would be great.

    Thanks!

I had the same problem with my 2013 CM. Happened a couple times, both during the winter when it was really cold. Both times the dealership said the truck thinks it’s running E85. They re-mapped the fuel system, and it was back to normal. From what I’ve read it’s a pretty common problem.
And your right, when it did this, the exhaust smelled like straight gas.

Seriously doubt it has anything to do with having a gasket changed.

Is it a Flex Fuel vehicle?? If it is you may want to look up a TSB for fuel pump and reflash of the ECM.

How much was it for them to remap the fuel system?

You are at 100k miles, have you changed the spark plugs? If not, it is time.

I have not changed the spark plugs since I've had the truck. Don't know last time they got changed but I was thinking the same thing.

First time it happened,I was still under warranty. Couple years later it did it again. Toyota covered it again because they had the history of it happening before.
I believe it’s a FFV issue. Didn’t take very long at all for them to flash the ECM, maybe an hour. I’m pretty sure there is a TSB covering it.

Yeah I saw that thread shortly after posting this one, I'm gonna start with a spark plug change because I know I need to do that. Then I will get the ECM flashed if it is still giving me a problem. Its currently 30 here in Texas and its supposed to get to 7 on Monday so I need to wait a day or two before I can do the spark plugs
