What on earth did I miss??

Soo some one on Facebook is selling this?? Rear shocks with springs?? What on earth is this or did I miss? Never seen such a thing. Am I the only one?

 

This was obviously invented to eliminate the dreaded bed bounce, and make it into a more tolerable and superior bed launch.

On a side note, wearing dishwashing gloves while working on a truck makes me think this might be some sort of prank.

 

I was literally just looking on craigslist for an a pillar grab handle and found a listing for these.

 

There is a tundra ive seen driving in Huntington with this exact setup. I had to double take when i saw it. Maybe it helps add carrying capacity?

i would want to reinforce the shock mounts though adding a spring is a lot more resistance on them

coil over shocks- Been around a long time, not seen one in years. They used to be much more popular back in the 70s/80s. Back then I saw them used on everything from VW Bugs/Buggies, to 4wds to musclecars. It was back in the day when air shocks were popular, as was the JC Whitney catalog! Coil overs gave some added support but didnt ride like a brick like air shocks did.

I actually ran them on a 72 Nova. The Novas had weak rear springs already. When I needed to replace the shocks I installed some coil over shocks and presto- the added support eliminated the rear sag I had (likely from hard launches and driving like the Dukes) and gave a great stance and improved drive-ability of the car.
