Gotcha. We'll wait and see then... I guess that leak a while back wasn't a Super Bowl commercial then.

Way to go Toyota! Ruin a perfectly good truck by adding more crap to brake and go wrong. I'm done with the Tundra and going with RAM for my next truck!

"I don't think we realize that with all the new bells and whistles and powertrain, we're going to be in a different payment range, and so we may lose some of those loyal Tundra customers. But I'm still excited at what Toyota is going to offer out there. It's going to be unbelievable."

I'm really hoping this doesn't mean that the highest trim levels start at like 60k or 65k USD with additional addons. The big 3 are already ridiculous with their pricing on half tons, I hope toyota doesn't join them. Highest end F150 with all the bells and whistles is well over 70k. Over $1200 a month is crazy for a 1/2 ton truck.

actually China was mowing our lawn when it came to renewable energy (https://www.statista.com/statistics/267233/renewable-energy-capacity-worldwide-by-country/), we have flipped that a little bit since 2019.

I’ve never owned a GM, Ford, or Dodge, but it seems they are always running ads for $10k off msrp or employee discounts. I get the impression they mark it way up knowing they’ll take a lot off. Toyota keeps their pricing consistent and close to what the final price will be.

That was my experience - with one exception. When I purchased my F150 back in November 2013, MSRP for it was $39,xxx or something. They came all the way down to $28,7xx.

In comparison, back in March of 2020 (when the Toyota dealerships had tons of vehicles but no one was buying), I was able to get them down from $48,1xx to $41,7xx on my 2020 Tundra - which for a Tundra is pretty damn good.

When I was cross shopping GMC (AT4 w/6.2) and Ram (Rebel/2500 Power Wagon) I was looking at 12-15K off MSRP. Both came down to the $48-50K range. My TRD Pro was $44K before tax & tags.

I get what you're saying, but he's clearly saying that the price is going to go up what seems to be a substantial amount and since toyota typically doesn't drop the price when negotiating compared to the others we are looking at a hefty premium over their current lineup. I think the highest end trim is going to start at 60.

A truck having all the bells and whistles—essentially being a luxury vehicle—is crazy to me.

$70k+ is luxury vehicle range. That’s what that F150 is. A luxury vehicle.

    Built by Ford. :boom:

I did not see anything other than speculation about price increases. I agree that it comes without saying that there might be price increases, but Toyota knows the market, they know the games that Ford, Chevy and Ram plays with their pricing, so I am sure that they will price accordingly. The last thing they would want to do is price themselves out of the market. Toyota has more sense and experience than to do that.

Unfortunately, $1000 car payments are normal these days. So glad I am car payment free. I had paid off my Jeep Commander in 2009 and started saving for 4 years before I bought the Tundra.

It will really take something special to get me out of my TRD PRO..... I "THOUGHT" being a 30 year Jeep owner that a Gladiator might, but after 3-4 long test drives, it made my love my truck more. 90% I am retiring from the Army late next year, so I do NOT want a car payment, as I do not plan to work AT ALL the first 2 years. Need to re-discover life.

I'm betting there will be some price increase, but not much. Toyota must have made tons of cash on the Tundra these last 14 years, as the R&D and new items have been small. Hopefully that profit will roll into the new Tundra R&D and prices will be on target with the rest of the market, especially with all the big 3 markdowns.

I thought it was ludicrous that the $63K Ram Power Wagon I looked at was dropped to $48K by the dealer without blinking an eye. Same with the GMC AT4. I think Toyota's pricing was realistic and why discounts were few and far between.

When I went on the Tundra factory tour, they explained that every Tundra built was already 'sold' or ordered by a dealer/person, and was on it's way within 48 hours. They don't build these things non stop with huge inventories like the others. They can run the factory at a profit, sell everyone they make, and are OK with that. Is an admirable market strategy.

All that said, I bet the top of the line with every bell whistle and option will be in the high $60's and maybe 70. And people will buy it, finance it for 8 years, etc.............

Thats also why loans are getting longer and longer. 60 month used to be as long as you could go, now its up to 72 and 84 months which is crazy to me.

Agreed. I will gladly admit that I've often signed up for a 72/84-month loan. In fact, I'm signed up for one now.

    BUT

No way in hell do I wait that long to pay it off. The longest I've EVER taken to pay a vehicle off has been 4 years. With my current Tundra, it's right at 1/2 way paid off in the 11 months that I've owned it; and this time next year I plan on it being completely paid off.

I honestly think there will only be a 3-5k price hike, Toyota will not stray to far from what a 1794\platinum cost now.

Just in time manufacturing. The staple of the toyota production system, setting on product is waste or "muda" we do everything we can to reduce waste, wasted time, wasted movements, etc. Theoretically in a perfect word the most efficient way to to produce things is one for one. No inventory at all.

Why take the longer loan then?, usually the higher you go in months over a 60 month loan the interest rate is higher.
