Yes, i believe the 4th option is being able to have only the lsd on. It should lay it out in the manual.

Nice to have more options, but I still don’t get it well enough yet for when to use which one :facepalm:I’ll figure it out.

I rarely take mine out of full nanny mode. But when I do, I like options!

The only downside to the VSC switch is it can’t be operated when in motion. So when you see a condition coming that you could take advantage of the different controls, you need to stop.

They can get a mechanical system like 4WD to work on the fly but not a computer? Dumb

I'm still a little confused about the LSD. After reading through this thread, and carefully reading the manual for my 2019 4WD Limited, it looks like I need to be in 2WD in order to enable the LSD. Is that right?

Is there no LSD in 4HI?

I ask because I recently got stuck in heavy snow because my left rear wheel was on ice. I was in 4HI and that left rear tire would spin and the truck would not move. When I pushed the VSC button it would go to VSC off but I could not get the LSD light to come on.

Edit: Today I pushed the VSC button in 2WD and the A LSD light came on, so that works in 2WD. I'm still confused about why it does not work in 4WD. I don't know why I would choose 2WD if I am in heavy snow. Snow is the reason I bought 4WD in the first place. Even if the LSD only affected the rear wheels it would be helpful in either 2WD or 4WD.

It's intention is situational, not for normal motoring about. So, likely. It applies the brakes, so it will wear them too.

When going to 4hi or 4lo, the tundie switches to A-TRAC. It's the exact same as Auto-LSD but works on all 4 wheels.

The lsd is to let the power go to one of the rear wheels that can get traction. If you're in 4wd, you have 2 extra wheels to get traction. The idea is to let the front wheels do what the rear can't or at the very least, assist the rear wheels. The a-lsd isn't needed because it has A-TRAC.

If you're in 4hi and still stuck, go to 4lo.

I may be wrong. Someone can correct me.

Thank you. I will try that. I did not try 4Lo when I was stuck in the snow. I was in 4HI and had all wheels in heavy snow. The left rear was on ice that was under the snow and it was the only tire spinning.

This week I replaced my tires with ones that will go a lot better in the snow so I hope I am good to go.

This may assist some that are newer to the Tundra with a little bit more of a visual representation of "The System".
