Okay... I'll admit that this is a silly question. Where does the "beep beep" sound come from when you lock the doors with your with your key fob? I have looked all over the engine bay for a speaker or something that might produce the sound. Anyone know where it comes from?

Not a major concern but just one of the WTF things for me.

That doesn't bother me as much as the seat belt chime does. I'd like to pull the plug on that. I always stop by the mailbox on the way home and I like to leave my seat belt off as I drive up to my house. That @#$! chime starts beeping like crazy before I'm parked.

I'm also curious. I tried to find it on my last toyota. It started sounding like a dying bird before it finally stopped chirping. Never did find it.

Totally agree. Toyota's seat belt chime is infuriating, it goes on forever.

I believe the beeping lock/unlock is behind the piece below the driver side headlight. At least that is where it was on my previous 2015 tundra

It’s nice to say that, and you seem to be sincere. You need to understand that there’s many GOOD reasons to NOT have the damn chime. For example, I drive a few hundred feet from where I park to my gate. Certainly don’t want to mess with the seat belt. Also, sometimes when hunting, it’s nice to be able to slip into a spot and out of the door without making ANY noise. I assume you might be a city dweller that doesn’t hunt?

It's a little further down, behind the bumper. But you're on the right path.

And you all know that the seatbelt chime can be turned off, right? Techstream. It's been posted a lot.

I don't have Techstream. At least in a Honda you can program things just with a sequence of turning the key on/off and pushing various buttons.

I meant that's what I hear when my buzzer goes off. It's none of my concern when someone does or doesn't wear their seat belt. Sorry for the miscommunication.

I have to drive to my mail box and it's insufferable to listen to. I should add this to the "things I don't like about my tundra" thread?

going to bump this thread with a question regarding the door lock chime since i searched quick and didn't find it..... recently, my door lock chime seemingly stopped on it's own when i lock or unlock with the key fob. anyone know why this would have happened? did i inadvertently do something? and i guess more importantly, is there a way to turn it back on?? i checked the settings on the screen and still shows that it's on, soooo......??????:(

Duno were the it is probably could find it easy by unlocking and putting your ear up to the area.

but as for the seat belt chime if you really don't want to listen to it. Click the end in the buckle then theres no noise an sit in front of the seat belt. I do it all the time when having sit in a vehicle running for what ever reason wether its diagnostic's or out on a job site moving my work vehicle from location to location. Best thing is it works with any vehicle.

I would not advise unplugging or finding another way to get rid of it as some modern vehicles CanBus system will go crazy or crash safety features might not work due to a missing trip variable.

For the seatbelt chime, you could always go grab a buckle from a salvage yard, keep it the center console and when your not using the belt. Just clip it in. I remember seeing a company that made a bullet aluminum one with a bottle opener machined into it. But cant remember the company to save my life

Edit: quick search for seatbelt dummy plug, plenty of options on Amazon for less $10

After my service manager looked closely at the wordage on the "Federal Warning." The text for said warning stated, "A Fasten Seat Belt Warning must remain in tact." My truck had a chime AND a flashing light; the flashing light warning remains in tact.

The volume can be turned down and the frequency slowed to just about inaudible. Depending upon your trim level, these settings can be accessed via the dash buttons or Techstream.

Edit: My bad, that's for the key in the ignition. But the seatbelt chime for either of the front seats can be turned off via Techstream. The dash lamps can not though.

The auto door locks are a pain also in a hunting situation. I purchased a cheap Carista OBD reader on Amazon that included a free 30 day trial software. Plugged it in the OBD and linked to my phone via bluetooth and I was able to turn off the seat belt chimes and auto locks.

Techstream is how my service department did it on mine + what I had on my list from the "Customizable Features" section in my Owner's Manual.
