Best Android Headunit for 2nd Gen Tundra's

The joying unit came with everything for a true plug 'n play. Backup camera work just like factory.
You need to change the canbus setting so the swc will work. But that was the only thing you have to do.
They provide all the adapters. Factory usb port is retained, no aux though, using their usb adapter.

Hahaha. Netflix in a vehicle...hmm, wait a minute. I guess that would come in handy if a person lived in there vehicle.

 

Just as an FYI, after doing a little more research, I bought a Seicane (different model, since this one is no longer available) and paid extra for expedited shipping. It actually took longer to receive my unit, and once I did, the harness was incorrect for a 2011 tundra limited platinum crewmax with the jbl audio. They are now giving me the run around, so I'm out $500+ all told. As a disabled vet, that's a lot of money to be out of. I would avoid Seicane if I had it to do again, especially since it's just a whitebox head unit available from other sellers.

 

Where did you buy the radio from? Can you file a claim?

 

Do any of these units support Apple car play?

 

My joying does. Wireless apple carplay and wired android auto. I dont use either. Too slow for me. I only tether internet to the radio and use it that way, like a tablet.

 

I'm looking at the new 11.6" Joying, any idea the difference between it and the Dasaita?

 

Made from the same FYT manufacturer. Joying and dasaita are reseller with their own tweaks and operation system. Different UI etc. but from the same manufacture.

So you didn't need any other cables or adapters at all? Everything just plugged in and your factory JBL amp, Factory Mic, backup camera, Gps it all worked out of the box? Did yours come with dash kit?

 

For my 2017 sequoia with jbl. Yes ever Was plug n play. They send the wrong harness with the radio when it was shipped. Then they had to send another one after i told them it was the wrong harness. The 2nd harness worked perfect. But it took 2 extra wks of waiting for it to arrive from oversea.

 

What radio did you end up installing?

 

This is the 2020 model.
Supposedly running android 8.1. Wireless carplay. If you use it everyday, it connects fairly quick. But if you dont. It can take a while for first connection. I personally hate it. I just tether internet over to the radio.

 

Looking for a new head unit for my 2010. Everyone still loving this or recommend something else? I really would love to have GPS/Nav on the screen vs. using my phone.

 

Still like mine. theres a guy selling his brand new joying unit over on the Dasaita thread. Worth a consideration.

 

Joying, Dasaita and about 20 others. Standard Chinese business model, 1 company comes out with a sucessful product and about 20 more will copy them. They are all essentially the same units, but like he said, minor differences in the tweaks, what's included, and internal hardware. If you're patient and don't mind getting stuff shipped from China directly, Alibaba/ Aliexpress will save you a significant amount of money. Sometimes its worth some extra cash to buy from the local (US) companies that have ordered in a shipload of them so there is someone you can yell at if something goes wrong, or an address you can return it to.

Has anyone gotten one of these to work with a 2012 Platinum with all the JBL stuff? I would like to get one but want all the factory stuff to work.

I bought one off AliExpress and got the wrong wiring harness and the seller had no clue so I had to send it back for a refund.

 

What kind of factory stuff are you wanting to retained?

 

Steering wheel, backup camera, gps and JBL amp/speakers

I have joying and it retained all that. Plug n play for our 2017 limited sequoia. Im not sure bout the tundra specially though. They claimed it’s plug n play.

 

I definitely need something that is plug and play.

Don't want to revive an old thread.... But also don't want to buy an outdated unit either... Need to replace the radio in my 2007 Limited. IS there a "better" / "most up to date radio" for them that will retain the steering wheel controls, etc?

 

@Rockin 2nd Gen did you use a canbus to get the speed and other or a obdii Bluetooth plug like the elm327? I’ve got an android head unit I’m about to install and would like that stuff but don’t know if I need the canbus adapter. It didn’t come with one….

 

I'm still in the air over the joying, dasaita or the phoenix auto tesla style. I keep changing my mind.
