Front shackles....yes or no

I'm running out of truck mods. Should I replace the tow hooks with the RC conversion kit and put shackles on the front? I already have some on the rear.

 

I’m about to do it right now. I really like the more aggressive look it gives. Also a nice cheap mod

 

The real question is are they only good for looks or recovery as well?

 

Nice. I got anti-theft shackles for the rear so that they stay on all the time.

The only thing with these is that they don’t have a recovery rating. I’m pretty sure they will hold up but some people get scared by that. Other brands are available as well

 

I don’t see why anyone would leave shackles hanging on their trucks.

 

Definitely not needed until there ready to use.... I'm interested in the mounts, not the shackles

Hmmm, don’t know...I’m on the fence. I’ve had them on a few days and I bought them for looks, not purpose. Maybe with a bull bar or new bumper to fill in the gap, might make it look better, but that’s not going to happen any time soon. Decision, decision.

 

A bumper and lift would make them look better.

 

Get your stock ones powder coated red and send those front nuts back.

 

They don't suite your truck.

As for the bullbar, don't do it.

Soft shackles, although not “cool” looking are theft-proof and safer than steel. And those two red ones dangling look silly in my opinion.

 

Throw in a Bubba snatch rope and you’re good to go. Plus you have the added benefit of being able to say “snatch” in a socially-acceptable manner...

So I went from the red hanging shackles that everyone expressed their thoughts on and went back to the original. Painted them blue since I had blue highlights in and around the truck like the cup holders, footwell and puddle lights. I like this better and appreciate everyone’s thoughts as well

 

Looks far better. I like the shade of blue.

I had shackles on the tow hitch on the rear of the truck to make it easier to hook the tow chains to. All hunting season kept hearing a squeaking noise while driving in the woods, driving me nuts. Turned out to be the shackles swinging back and forth. Removed them and my bird hunting was much more successful after that. I just put them on as needed now.

 

Painted mine Red like many others..Def stands out...A lot of people notice them

 

I have two silvery Grey ones in front to match the truck body and I put a twisted clevis on the winch shackle mount if I’m really trying to impress. Unfortunately, in this part of the country, this is one of those things where I’m the only one who is actually impressed.
