    Hello folks,

New Tundra owner here. I just picked up a 21 TRD-Off Road DC with the 6.5' bed in Super White. So far I love it, especially the extra power bump compared to the 2UZ-FE 4.7l v8 in my LX470. I'll miss my LX470 but I have need of more towing capacity and the bed is much easier than hooking up a trailer every time I need to haul something.

Mods I've done in the first week:

    Front console full sized tray.
TRD caps for my wheels. (Already had these from my LX470)
Moved my Escort Max 360c radar detector and my Escort dash cam with the Blend mount mirror mounting over from my 20 Forester Sport.

    Pending mods under consideration:

I have a brand new set of Nitto Ridge Grapplers in 295/70r18 that never made it onto my LX470, trying to figure out how much lift I need to run them. I will likely just sell them and get a proper tire not requiring a regear. I also have another set of Tundra TRD-OFF Road wheels that I plan to get powder coated all in black and switch those to the tundra. These were destined for the LX as well. I will miss the triple lockers for sure, but I rarely off-road anymore, so the Tundra should meet my needs.

First future mod will be the reference Audio upgrade from OEMAUDIOPLUS.COM

    https://oemaudioplus.com/toyota/tdc/

Luckily my Tundra already has black door handles mirrors and badges, so no need to address that. I will be dealing with the shiny chrome trim inside for sure.

    Kirk

Welcome from the wet side of WA.

No need to re-gear for 295/70R18's. You just need to put about 2-3" lift in the front (2" will pretty much level you out). Lots of us with TRD Pros (2" higher in the front, nothing added in the back) run that size stock. You just pull the front mud flaps, and depending on the tire, might need some spacers on the wheels

Thanks Casey. I have been closely following your build. Love the color. I wanted a TRD pro but they are unobtainium here in SoCal as are all 4x4 Tundras.

There are days I miss my old DC. You’ve got a perfect canvas to make that one your own! It would be a shame for you to have to get rid of those Nittos - lots of options for a good lift that will let them fit your truck.

I will likely sell them and address new sneakers down the road. I am a big fan of regears when putting larger sneakers on. I would likely want a bigger lift when I do get there as well. And heck I might as well throw some ARB lockers in when the diffs are getting regeared. I have had my LX to Moab twice and up on two and 3 wheels many times. Ya gotta love lockers!

First major mod will likely be a full sound system upgrade from OEM Audio Plus.

    https://oemaudioplus.com/toyota/tdc/

I am kinda surprised that there are not more members that have gone this way. Of course I have not been to the audio threads here, but I would have expected someone to go there in the what have you done to your thirds Gen thread.

I guess I’m showing my age a bit maybe, but at this point I’m fine with the JBL system I have. There’s a lot of other things I’ll spent the $1k on before I find it necessary to start messing with the stereo. But that’s me - what I choose to spend my mod money on is different than other people.

If I had the JBL system I would stay with it. I have a crappy sounding 7 speaker system. I thought I was getting a 12 speaker system per the Toyota website and the vspec links Toyota creates for each vin. I got a free 5 year 100k warranty from the dealer after raising a stink about the false advertising on Toyota.com. the JBL system and the extra lift along with the grill and pseudo scoop are the main reason's I wanted a TRD Pro. Hate leather though. Agree 100% to each his own. I will get to certain mods in time down the road. Lift, regear, lockers etc. Other things like a dual battery setup, inverter, on board air will come first. What I won't be doing anytime soon is spending money to address the factory chrome surrounds or bumper ends. I love the matching colors look but am ok with the chrome on mine and will sink money into other things before I go there unless I run into some magical deal. I may even keep the stock front bumper and go hidden winch. Been down the 3k for bumpers route on the LX.
