What is it fox 2.0?

 

We test drove a Yukon and while we were super impressed with the features and aesthetics, it felt like a more delicate vehicle. The Sequoia looks and feels more robust. I will say when we were sitting in the Yukon though it felt like we were sitting in a 60 thousand dollar vehicle, the Sequoia not so much. The decision gets even more difficult when GM is doing huge cash back incentives but even with all that, we're pretty set on the Sequoia.

 

I had a Suburban before I bought a Sequoia. The Suburban was all good til the mileage started piling up. Traded it in before 100K to preserve a little value and a lot of online reviews were not good about higher mileage. I drive 'em til they are done or close to it. Sequoia Platinum was my favorite vehicle even though it looked a little out of date. Ditched it at 240K. Still drove great but repairs (live in the Northeast) were going to cost more than it was worth. Wanted another but it was too expensive, looked frumpy at the time (before current upgrade). The Tundra was more up to date, looked way better and a better value overall for me. If Toyota would just update the grille and rear, and bring it up to Tundra standards, I would own another.

 

Like BassBlaster said it all comes down to maintenance and value retention. Chevy and GMC vehicles don't necessarily hold their value like 4runners, Sequoias, and Tundras. Parts are cheaper, but things break more often especially when you get above 60k and out of the factory warranty. Toyota definitely could give two shits about technology. Even the 2021 model year lacks certain bells and whistles that come standard on Ford, GMC, Chevy, etc.

 

Has your rack came in yet? I really want to see pictures if you wouldnt mind sharing? Did you go with light bar set up or individual? I was researching who else makes racks I only saw front runner. I think the Gobi looks better.

 

12-16 week delivery lead time. Ordered it back in December-January, so I probably won't see it until mid April at the earliest. Ordered the Stealth w/ sunroof insert and no rise. I was in the same boat as you. No one really makes a custom plug and play complete rack setup for the Sequoia. 4runner and Tacoma have multiple options, but GOBI seemed to be the best looking and one of the only options for our venhicles.

 

Hello just wondering if you had done some research on light bars that fit? I ordered the Gobi rack pretty much exactly like you did no rise. I want to order a light bar just in case it’s taking a long time. I just dont know what size to order. 40 or 50 inch

 

No clue on the light bar, but I would move forward with it because my neighbor just got his Gobi Stealth for his 4runner. Took 26 weeks!

 

So my Kings finally showed up. I initially had the front set as high as you could go and in the rear had the dobinsons 1.75 inch rear coil springs installed. Well the front looked great but it had ready for launch look going on. I placed an order for new 2.5 rear coil springs from Dobinson and had them lower the front an inch. Once I receive the new coil springs I will hopefully be able to go higher in the front because it looked great. I am now patiently waiting for my Gobi rack to come in and the approximate 3 plus months for the new springs.

The pictures are before I lowered the front an inch. It got completed and went on vacation right away.

 

How do you like those fogs I have a set I may sell but don’t know how they preform

 

I've got the Rigid fogs on my 2018. They perform well, much better than the stock versions I replaced them with. Are they worth the money, meh...maybe.

 

Those are the factory fog lights on the TRD Pro Sequoia. They work well i have them on all the time when my headlights are on.

 

How high was that front lift when it was at it's highest???
So that pic is all the way lifted in the front with Dobinson 1.75" springs in the rear?

 

I wanted to go as high as you could go. We called King and asked and said we could go from 1 inch to an inch and a half from where they were set when we received them. I believe they came at 2.5 inches. We went the inch and a half higher so probably close to 4 inches. It was pretty high in the front which the picture you can’t really tell. If you looked at it from the side the front was way higher. We lowered it the inch in front which thankfully we did not have to remove to shock to do it. They came with a special tool that we were able to adjust it down just by putting the vehicle in the air and a lot of elbow grease.

Any ideas how much and where I should sell my factory TRD Pro suspension for? I also have the 1 inch 88 rotors lift spacers.

I know this is a little bid of an older thread but make sure you add a front diff drop kit if you lift the front more than 1.5" to 2". Your front end drivetrain will thank you for it.

 

Do you have actual experience with this? I’ve read more cases where this is not needed as much as people seem to think, even up to 2.5”.

 

I had a 2012 since new for 10 years and I had it lifted (from the dealer) 3/2 with no diff drop kit, then removed the lift (new born child and not so tall wife) after 6 months. While it was on, I had a good look at the angles and they seemed extreme for the front, then compared them with it removed (stock). for a 3" lift, the front angles were about 20-22 degrees more. Three years later, I re-installed a 2.5/1.5 kit and installed the diff drop kit (super simple and affordable), and the angles were only 5 degrees or so more than stock. By angles I mean the angle of the front axles.

I had almost seven years of completely reliable use of the Sequoia with the lift kit and diff drop spacers installed, and I would not install any lift without a diff height adjustment if it would result in more than a 5-7 degree increase in angle. This is not to say you can't, just a personal opinion.

I've looked at the Westcott designs lift for my 2022 TRD Pro with the fox suspension. It's supposed to give a 1.5 inch lift front and 1 inch rear, and personally that's as high as I would go without a diff drop as it would give me about 5 degrees of increased axle angle.

Fair enough. I just didn't like the angles I saw, and viewed that $20-$30 as money well spent (cheap insurance).

 

I haven’t posted much sorry. I got my gobi rack after a year if waiting. It took me a while to install it but got it on. I picked up a new toy which I enjoy driving more. A 2004 V8 4runner. I bought it stock and instantly installed an Icon Kit. I wish I would have looked into extended travel coil overs on the Sequoia such a better ride. Ill post random photos of both.

 

Did you need to do any trimming to get the rear reservoir hose to clear where it comes off the shock body?

 

They didnt have to trim anything. He did loosen the hose and adjusted it to get a little more clearance.

 

I was feeling the same way, but now I think I’d rather just buy the one that is the least likely to cause me any grief having to go back to the dealer. I’ll pay for a few less mpgs to not deal with issues. If we replace my wife’s Yukon XL—which has stranded her twice and caused lots of frustration—it will likely be with a 2nd gen Sequoia.

 

This is why I ditched my 3rd gen tundra and got a seqouia... Left stranded a few times and didnt like that one bit. Perfect world we would have gotten a diesel yukon xl.. but the lease payment and the lack of reliability was a no go for me... plsu modding a lease vehicle isnt fun
