Is $550 to high for a used gen2 tailgate?

I had my trailer come unhooked and damaged my tailgate on 2011 dc.

Trying to figure out if i should claim it or not.

In Alberta they wanted $1400 for a rusty tailgate at the wreckers. I bought an entire 8’ bed
for $850 privately, thank god no one likes long boxes like I do. And all I wanted was the tailgate. So I swapped the bed too. Still cheaper than
    used tailgate from the wrecker.
