I'm getting an annoying noise while @ 35-55 mph (after 60, the tire noise kicks in). I know it's coming from the front dust shields. My guy has tweaked them a few times. It's not unbearable, nor does it seem be be causing any mechanical issues. Just a light ear sore at certain times.
My questions is: Has anyone removed their dust shields? If so, any problems? If not, is it a bad idea to?
    Thanks!

You sure it's not a ball joint or wheel bearing going south? Causing a slight movement alowing to hit the dust sheild?

I was thinking wheel bearing. Lift the truck and spin the wheel. You will hear or feel a difference if one is going bad.

Is there any physical sign that the dust shields are being contacted/rubbed? Are they tight, or maybe slightly loose. Haven't pulled mine off yet to know how they are attached. Hub or brake caliper.

Are the brake pads thick enough to not need replacement? Is the rotor showing signs of warping or grooves?

I'll have him check this week. Didn't think of that.
He made some adjustments to the dust shield, and it sounds 90% better than when I first heard it. That's the only reason I was thinking it could still be that.
    Thanks for the suggestion.

It started after the spindles & coils were installed. He made adjustments to the dust covers. It's 90% better now.
Brakes seem to be really good. I'll double check it.
It's going back to shop this week for bumper upgrade. I'll have him check the joints/bearing.
    Thank you.

Bumper additions are back from powder coat. Gonna drop her off, in the am.
My guy says dust shields are clear. Looks like it may be the wheel bearings. I'll know for sure tomorrow.
Anyone recommend a brand? I'm reading good things about SKF. Plus, they're warranted for 100,000 miles.

If new spindles were installed make sure that the dust seals were installed on the back side of the bearing. They were missed by the installer on my Tacoma when i got a 6" lift. Had one wheel bearing go out within a month or so and the other 6 months later. Got sand and dirt right up to the bearing.

Unfortunately, don't think warranty will cover them, due to 3" spindles, UCA and Coilovers. IF it's something my guy forgot during the install, he'll cover it.
csuviper, I ask him to check that too. Is it something I could notice, if I crawl under it?

You rock csuviper! Thanks for the help & illustrations.
My guy (Stan @ Crawluroffroad, if you guys have any Jeep toys and are in SoCal, he's the man. Good w/ my truck too.) said that it could very well be a ball joint starting to go bad. BUT, he said there's no play in it any where (either side). And of course...I didn't hear the noise this morning, nor did he hear the noise on a test drive.
He said the spindle is completely sealed and feels/looks good.
Thanks for all the help. I'll keep ya posted.

On a lighter note. Front bumper is back, mounted and wired. Super stoked. I'll post picks later, when the sun goes down.
