How are the front parking sensors supposed to work?

The button is on, but mine never seem to come on? I'm just generally curious how they are supposed to work/help. Maybe it's just my limited knowledge.

 

If something is close, it beeps and show on the center how close it is, 3 layers and yellow means 10inches away or so, red is like 4 inches away.

 

OK, thanks, truck is brand new, I think my parking sensors aren't working correctly. Is this straight on or at an angle?

 

I think I need to get out a large box and test it out.

 

The objects also need to be detected by two or more sensors (it says two objects, but they mean two sensors). P298 of the manual covers the "Intuitive Parking Assist"

 

Thank you so much! Maybe I just haven't been close enough yet. I've got a big box in my garage I'm going to pull it out and test it out, LOL. I've been worried I was going to hit a car in a parking lot and this Tundra is brand new to me!

LOL, not a fan I take it? I was worried they worked at all and then realized I just wasn't close enough to the object. I'll take them over nothing, but will be backing in when possible.

 

In my opinion, they suck compared to all the other vehicles I’ve owned with them. Impossible to go through a drive thru without going off. That shouldn’t happen.
