This may be a dumb question but the manual was not helpful. Does the trailer need to be connected to the Tundra in order for "vehicle settings" show or set the type of trailer brakes and the weight range of the trailer? It does not seem to allow any selections without the trailer attached and the trailer is not here for me to test it. I don't want to drive all the way out to where the trailer is and find out I don't know what I am doing to set it up to work

My ‘21 greys out the option to select trailer brake type when no trailer connected.

Are you using a weight distribution hitch with sway control? I still have to scan and post it but my WDH instructions say do not use the vehicle equipped trailer control when using the WDH.

Also be careful in case you are towing something heavy for the first time.
The IBC of the older models (2016 +/- era) didn't do a good job with braking. Not sure if Toyota ever fixed that problem or not. Do a search on this site to read more about it.

Which, as we discussed in the other thread, doesn't make any sense to the rest of us. Unless I'm misunderstanding what you're saying.

    Function before sparkle.
That still makes no sense. It means you have no trailer brakes.

Please re-read those instructions because you may be confusing brake controller with in-truck trailer sway control like F150’s have (which can be turned off).

Yes, you have to be connected to a trailer to change the brake settings.

I'll take a look at it again and see. Thanks.
