Currently I'm just working to the the money to complete the project. I'm now redoing my exhaust to prepare it for the turbo and also I have some surprise plans in the mix (Will give you more information on that soon...). Though currently I remove the Cats and also plan to swap out the grill and bumper with blacked out versions.

Let me know if you want to hear how she sounds without cats and two cherry bombs!

I had a friend I met on a facebook toyota group with a 4th gen 4runner with the 4.7. He had one of these piggy back computers added onto his 4runner that was designed to optimize his mods, like fuel injectors, cold air intake and headers, etc. He claimed he got 20+ mpg freeway and could roast the tires through second gear. I see they have options for turbos too.. might be worth looking into

Jebus the Unichip got expensive. I have had it for years, never thought it was worth the cost and I payed half that amount.

I think the lowest model starts out at 589, almost half but not as cheap as what you had paid.
You said it wasn't worth it? Just doesn't quite live up to the claimed performance gains or what? It's been on my mind but I haven't actually heard any honest feedback about it except that one friend who had it on his 4runner, but he didn't install it, he had a shop do it and didn't know half of what was going on.

Yeah, didn't make much of a difference on my truck. Then again I used canned maps from their website, maybe a custom tune could be better. I do like the valet mode and kill switch though.

    I suppose I'd you're going with a turbo its a good option.

Yup. It won't let the motor exceed 2k rpm. You can drive still, but can't go above that rpm. I have used it a few times for valet or the carwash.

Heyoo I'm back and have some good news! While I have neglected to update this thread I thought I would let everyone know that I'm in the process of swapping my water pump and timing belt. While this in it itself may not seem that interesting my new headers and mass amounts of exhaust pipe came in...
    https://www.jegs.com/i/Flowtech/387/91730/10002/-1
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B088D2P1DZ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8

The puzzle is almost complete and I figured out how to bypass the tuning issue. I'm going to use a split-second enricher!
    https://splitsec.com/product/lsc1-001-universal-fuel-enrichment-module

Along with this in order to make the truck more reliable, I will be making the turbo toggleable thanks to this switch.
    https://www.ebay.com/itm/193953261415?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

It should work but it might have a little bit of lag. I cant wait to show everyone how it's going to look!

(Once she's up and running again I'll upload a recording of how she sounds before I fix up the exhaust for turbo.)

Start looking at the Australia and New Zealand forums, Dubai too. Those guys have been doing single and twin turbos on everything for many years. Lots and lots of good info to be had.

Might want to post in the performance & tuning subforum...more speed junkies in there, maybe a mod can move this thread for you? I say go for it with low boost (6-8 psi) on stock internals, would net some decent power.

And Turbos do technically suck...they create vacuum before the impeller to draw air through for compression, but then so do superchargers before rotors/screws.

The atmosphere pushes the air through the turbo.
