    Welcome again Steve!
Here's the APS iboards I was telling you about.
Aluminum and low profile. I'll probably upgrade in the future but I love them, especially for $200.

Ride the Lightning is probably my second favorite...

Black album was my first show too (both Metallica and concert period)...at Beasley Coliseum in Moscow, ID. I was in high school then - my best friend’s step dad drove us down to the show. He’d never heard of them, but still attended and had a good time - he was always a really cool guy. I remember him telling us the story of actually having tickets to Woodstock, until everyone in the world decided to just show up so he tossed the tickets (and regretted it for not keeping them as souvenirs. He’s the one who introduced us to Led Zeppelin (and many others) on his 4-track reel-to-reel.

I also saw them at Lollapalooza in Rockford, IL, with Soundgarden on stage right before them (only time I got to see Soundgarden). Then I saw them again the next year in Milwaukee, WI, at the Bradley Center with Corrosion of Conformity as one of the opening bands. Took my wife to see them at Portland Meadows on the Reload tour in ‘98 with Jerry Cantrell and a pile of other bands I don’t remember. Then at the Rose Garden (also Portland) when Godsmack opened for them on the St. Anger tour (man, that album sucked...). Godsmack had released their third album then, and they ripped that place up. Most recently, I bought high-dollar tickets (I’m old, I can afford it, and it was the day before my birthday) when they played the “Moda Center” (still the Rose Garden to me) for the Hard Wired tour.

Yes, the shows aren’t quite what they used to be...Jim Brewer was their “opening act” for this last tour while they stalled to even come on stage until 9pm. Once they started playing it was pretty good, but an hour of sitting in the dark waiting for anyone to come on stage, and then an hour of Jim Brewer trying to pump up a Metallica crowd was absolute bullshit. The first leg of that tour they had Volbeat open for them, and I wish they’d kept them for the rest of the tour.

I also really like listening to the Binge and Purge set - probably because it is essentially the same set list as that first concert but recorded in Mexico City. I also really like the S&M sets (both releases). Something different.

Thanks, I’ll just have to look around. And yeah it sounds like I have the best year from what I’ve read. Stumbled onto a Platinum with under 15k miles in June. I’m in luv with it. Would like a cpl upgrades but this one is sweet

I never really got into Pearl Jam until much later in life. I really liked Ten, but then didn’t really care for the next several albums after that. Probably because I’d already gone much deeper into the heavy metal / hard rock / alt rock world by then and found I preferred Soundgarden and Alice in Chains and some of the other hard rock of the 90’s over the “get behind a cause” stuff that Pearl Jam was putting out. Screaming Trees was actually one I wish I’d gotten a chance to see, but I was too young by about 3-4 years to have had enough freedom to have escaped Northern Idaho and gotten a chance to really explore that scene in person. Instead, I ended up in the midwest for college and got to see the rise of bands like Local H and 311 out of the underground scenes and into the (brief) mainstream.

It’s funny how much the music of your teens and early twenties shapes your life.

It’s not too late to see Metallica or Pearl Jam in concert (once musicians start touring again). It’s just ridiculously expensive any more. I remember paying $80 to see Eric Clapton in Milwaukee for floor seats in the Bradley Center and shitting bricks over how much that ticket was. Now, you can’t get nose-bleeds to Metallica for that much. I wanted to take my wife to Elton John’s “Farewell” tour, but $350 for upper deck in the Tacoma Dome was out of the question.

Sounds like we're about the same era. I was also in HS during the first Black Album Tour. I saw Godsmack as well when they opened for Metallica. I've never wanted to throat-punch a lead singer so much in my life. I'm glad you liked them, but I had the exact opposite reaction. Was never a big fan of theirs, but have despised them ever since that concert.

S&M is definitely a great break for them and I really like Garage Inc. Otherwise, I really haven't liked anything they've done since the Black Album.

Not sure I'll see them next time around. We saw U2, Metallica and Macklemore all in the same year a few years ago. U2 and Metallica are just old...and so are the shows. I'm not paying top dollar to see a bunch of dudes stand in one place and jam. Macklemore on the other hand put on a show that was just nuts. Top 3 concert for me.

Now if Tool would just reschedule their concert from last year...and I'd like to see the Scorpions once!

    Nice find!
I specifically sought out a '17. Love the 38 gallon tank, trans cooler and no TSS system. I belive you can only get that combo in a '16 or '17.

Having said all that, I think the TSS is now reliable and I wouldn't hesitate to buy a '21 and just install a cooler.

    Sign me up for TOOL.
@RainMan_PNW I have recently been listening to a lot of Alice in Chains, bummed out I didn't appreciate them as much back when I was listening to Nirvana.

I know you can still see them, but it wouldn't be the same if it was the early nineties.

Ten was my favorite pearl jam album, followed by vitalogy. Metallic, pearl jam, and blink 182 were some of the first non country bands I started to follow outside of my parents likes. I like most music, but still go to country most days anymore. Can't wait for covid to be over and go to concerts again.

Tool would be incredible, though I do prefer their older stuff as well. Newer Metallica is OK...if it comes on I make it through the song, but don’t have any of it on a playlist that I’ve created. I tend to be the most productive when I’ve got something like FFDP or similar really hard-charging double-bass in the background. Have also really found I enjoy Stone Sour - the more tongue-in-cheek band of Corey Taylor (from Slipknot). But then throw in some Volbeat, mix it up with some Trivium, and then slip a little Bullet for My Valentine and Chevelle in there for good measure. Godsmack’s older stuff is better for me than the newer stuff, but I also really like it when bands step out of their “genre” a bit or do covers of other bands - like Godsmack’s Asleep EP, or Metallica’s newer Garage Days stuff, or Sully Erna’s solo stuff, and the covers that FFDP put on all of their albums, Corey Taylor doing covers of Metallica, Slayer, and Chris Isaak, etc.

One of the best I’ve seen in a long time was Santana. It was at the House of Blues in Mandalay Bay a few years back...couldn’t have been more than a few hundred people in the whole place...incredible show. Watching Bryan Setzer back in the 90’s (Jump Jive and Wail days) get a crowd going was also a great show.

Same here, we had Chris Stapleton tickets last summer at the Gorge but Covid canceled that.

I’ve always wanted to see a show at the Gorge. Though I hear they aren’t quite as good as they used to be (I had a friend in college from Wisconsin that would go there every year to see DMB).

Just curious, not arguing, why do you think 2017 is better than 2015? Not a single recall or tsb for 2015 and it’s the only year consumer reports has it listed with 100% top across the board.
I won’t discuss “limited technology”, because I believe “less” is more and prefer NOT having more nannies.

MY only argument would be the addition of the 38-gallon fuel tank in the 2016 (though I think you’ve added an aftermarket one, correct?). Other than that, my reasons for a 2021 were more about creature comforts and personal preferences and nothing I could say make one “better” over another.

That’s correct! I added a transfer flow 46g tank. The stock 26g, is pathetic.

Funny how the music we listened to from our late teens to our late 20’s defines us.
I’m 65. My music is the stones, zeppelin, band, mountain, ccr, almond bros, petty, doors, etc. I still love this stuff and feel like nothing else has soul.

I didn't have tickets, but was looking forward to rocking on the river in Clarkston Washington. They host a concert every summer. Some good bands have been through there. I've always had a good time there anyways. Hopefully it will be back again this summer.

28 more minutes and I will be finished with my double shift. Tired, hungry, and I think I need a cold beverage. Maybe a rum and coke to sip on.

I’m a generation younger than you, and also enjoy ALL of those bands too! Toss some Marshall Tucker in there...
I grew up on my parent’s music first before discovering my own. Throw in some old-school country and folk music - they were dirt poor hippies in North Idaho trying to get away from their large midwest families and make a living and raise a family... John Denver, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson (actually saw him in concert in the early 90’s in Sandpoint), Crystal Gayle. LOL...

And then I met my wife (who is 7 yrs older than me) and she had a whole ‘nother era/genre of music in her library that wasn’t really part of what I’d grown up with - the 70’s Soft Rock, Disco, and R&B. And now my kids are into Hip Hop, newer country, and new alternative stuff...and I’ve come to appreciate it as well.

If it's good music it's good music. About the only thing I don't listen to is rap. I've jotted a few bands down that were listed I've never heard of in this conversation. I figure one of these days I will youtube/google them and give them a listen.

It’s not my go-to, but I’ve come to appreciate rap/hip-hop as it’s own thing, mostly because my kids listen to it quite a bit. Hell, back when I was young we were listening to the start of it - MC Hammer and Tone Loc gave way to 2 Live Crew and eventually to Dr. Dre and Snoop Dog and TuPac, and it has morphed from there. Hell, even Aerosmith did “Walk This Way” with RunDMC, and Anthrax got into it with “Bring the Noise.”

This is true. I do like some tech9ine, tuPac, and Eminem. Just don't listen to it often. I have to be in a party mood though, or listen with a buddy who is into rap. But not my top choice. MC hammer, now that's a name I haven't heard in a long time. That brings back memories of playing basketball with my neighbor friend while his cassette collection played.

Eminem has grown on me - I guess like a lot of things have. Perhaps what I’ve tried to do as much as possible is keep an open mind. There’s a lot of music that isn’t my first choice, but I’ll listen (and usually enjoy it) if that’s what’s playing.

Going a whole different direction, I was deep into blues most of my life, play a harp and jammed with some little no-name bands. Muddy waters, bb king, little Walter, howling wolf, inspired lots of my favorites like John mayall and the stones

    No offense meant.
You fixed the only gripe I had with my '15, with the transfer flow tank. I agree with you, less is more which is why I wanted the last year without TSS.
    All Tundras matter!

Stupid tank. You fill it up and you can only pass one station before you have to start looking for another one! lol

When I was in St. Louis a few years ago, they had a Blues museum downtown that I checked out. It was awesome to see/listen how little some things have changed over the years. The same notes just played on new instruments and set to new lyrics (or sometimes even the same ones but mixed up a bit) have made some of the most memorable songs of the 20th century.

Do any you remember that dive bar in the 80’s in downtown Portland I think called the Starry Night? I saw many concerts there like Metallica, Armored Saint, Twisted Sister and others I cannot remember now. Under aged was down on the floor and over 21 could go up in the balcony. I was only in my late teens then I went but remember it could get wild with some of the shows they brought in.
