2019 Tundra Double Cab - Switch Panel Suggestions

2019 Tundra 5.7l 4WD Double Cab

I need a way to wire lights (fog, led cube, and led bar) and maybe a winch centrally so it looks clean.

I know sPOD and Switch Pros are popular. But expensive.

Has anyone installed the AuxBeam switch panels? They're definitely cheaper in price of the better known switch panels. But sometimes, what you get with a cheaper price is a cheaper product.

I haven't used the Auxbeam specifically but I think I found some sort of knock off of the cheap option . But I have had no issues at all with it. My lights currently are pretty low draw so I'm not worried about it but if I upgrade to use some nicer higher power accessories in the future I will just use relays to keep the draw off the cheap unit. I think I have the same lights that you are planning currently with my bar being also being a cheap one so it is relatively low power so you may want to use a second relay depending on your light bar draw and your trust in the power output claims of the switch panel.

Thanks for the information! Yeah the one in the link does look similar. I went with Offroad LED Bars for the bar and cube LED lights. Baja for the SAE fog lights.

 

Glad I could give you some information. I would definitely not worry about the Baja fogs or the cubes since anything you go with will be very low draw. The light bar depends on the size you went with and if you do a winch in the future I know they have very high draws (https://winchmania.com/understanding-winch-amperage/) so you have to use relays for that since even the spod or switch pro options don't have a circuit that is rated high enough. I have the Blazer international wireless remote for my lights I don't use the lights often but hasn't let me down. My winch is just wired to the battery

I've seen the Trigger before. A Youtube person had it on his Tundra. I liked it because it was wireless. It looks like it's even more easier to install because the wire harnesses are already wired into the switch. Nothing needs to be pulled through the firewall. If the wireless 'controller' is lost, can a new one be purchased? or does each switch have its own frequency for a controller?

I looked at the Cali Raised switch, but I think I read that it's not waterproof. not sure if I should be worried. I don't plan on going into high water.

I looked at all of those mentioned options and decided to go with Corey Georges 3d printed switch bus panel which installs just below the HVAC controls.


He can make it in several different configurations and I think I only paid $35.00 for it. I did not need the OEM cigarette/accessory power ports, so I had him delete those in favor of more switch ports. It turned out beautiful! I used it, in conjuction with a BP Automotive waterproof relay switch box for $150.00:

If you're a DIY type of person then these might be of interest to you. I use them myself and also use the ARB Linx controller as a master switch.

Yup, that's what worried me too. But I think the SPOD isnt waterproof either so idk, like I said I went with trigger and its great.

I'm sure if you lose it, you can buy the switch itself. They also have an app. Its pretty big so it would be hard to lose it.

 

Anyone upgrade their battery and/or battery cables to run a winch straight to the battery and lights to a switch? Not sure if factory battery would run all that. (Even though they won't all be running at the same time)

 

Yup. Swapped mine for the Northstar battery. Ran 2awg wires - everything is relatively close to the battery.

I've got my winch, air compressor, lightbars, auxiliary lights, power inverter, etc.. I leave the engine running when using any of those.

 

YotaBro, are you using all 6 ? I don't see myself adding that much stuff. I have a led bar, two sure lights, and maybe a air compressor later. I may go with just the 4

Not until the battery dies or if it causes me issues. If that's the case then I will.

 

Here are some pics of the Trigger system. So far, love it. If you get the 4, you can prob fit it where I have my Altoids.

 

I'm been talking with Joe at Trigger this week. They finally got the 4 Plus back in stock, but I still can't decide if I want the 4 or 6. I'm not sure if I'd fill the 6 up, but it comes with the 100 amp fuse to protect the switch, and it'll shut off if the battery is low. I'd definitely get a Y harness for my LED Cube lights in front. Any advice since you have the 6?

 

I mean, if you are 100% positive that you won't use all 6 switches then save your money. I can't speak for the shutting off thing because I have the yellow wire hooked up directly to the positive terminal. You're supposed to hook it to the ignition fuse but I wanted the ability to turn lights on when I have the truck off and if the battery dies I have a battery jumper in the truck.

 

Aww man. Thanks for the pictures. Gives me an idea of the hook up to the battery. Do you have the harnesses hooked to your engine bay with a clamp? I was going to have a local fab shop make a plate to hold the switch, but they wanted $100. Naw..that's way too much. Do you have yours on the fuse box with velcro?

Has the dealership said anything about the set up voiding the warranty? (I can see mine giving me a hard time. lol).

 

Yeah. that's a good point. I was hesitant about hooking that yellow wire directly to the battery just because I don't want it draining it, but I go camping and if you need the lights, it's better than turning on the engine at 1am waking the whole campground. lol.

 

I velcroed it and put 2 self-tapping screws (with silicon). Honestly, the industrial velcro was plenty enough but I live in a hurricane area and didn't want to take the risk.

I can't speak to the dealership because I bought my Yota used without any warranties. I'd look up to what your warranty voids. Worst case, you remove it if it has any issues and poof it was never there.

 

Yup, so I spoke with trigger about that and they made it sound like the truck would have to sit for a very long time without starting for it to drain the battery so it's worth the risk IMO. Like I said, if it really gets hairy I can always use my jump starter.

 

It doesn't look like a winch is hooked up to your battery, but think hooking up winch directly to the battery, along with the Trigger will cause any issues? I'm thinking not, because they all won't be on all the time. Like overheating, shorts, etc.

 

Nope on the winch yet, still waiting on the bumper to come in in March then everything should be hooked up. And TBH no idea. I am not an expert on electrical stuff, but I plan on hooking it to the trigger system as well.

 

I've seen some pretty hardcore direct wiring to the batteries on the forum so I don't think you'd run into any issues directly wiring the winch to the battery. I personally have so many slots so I don't see an issue using them.
