I like the 5.7. But it’s just not as smooth as the 4.7. Out of all the new Toyota’s there’s only 2 I’d buy. A new tundra or a new 4runner. But I’d lean more 4runner

The true gem of the Toyota world is the 3.5 believe it or not. Fuckers amazing for how many are produced

To each their own, but I cannot deny that the 5.7 rattles like a can full of rocks falling down the stairs at times.

That’s just the nature of the beast going from an engine without lifters or rockers to an engine with lifters and hydraulic rockers. Plus a t chain. Toyota went from “if it’s tapping it happy” to quiet as a church mouse, and now they’re slowly going back to louder and louder... you should hear the newer camrys with the new 2.5. Man that’s a noisey engine

I do love the power of the 5.7 though. Damn that things awesome... but with headers and some other little things and a tune, I bet I could get the little 4.7 to compete.

Sure, until you do the same to the 5.7. The old "there's no replacement for displacement" argument. However, that falls on it's face once you get to diesel. 5.9 Cummins will eat any of the Gassers.

5.7 is not new in the last 4-6 years, it's been around for going on a decade and 1/2. It's a great motor power wise. I almost bought a 3rd Gen twice just because of that motor...but the overall size just killed it for me ultimately.

I expect if Toyota announces a hybrid and/or turbo V6 for the Tundra and or a hybrid V6/I4 for the new 4Runner there will be massive runs on the last year of 5.7s/4.0s in those respective vehiclels....

It's a great motor...just not a great choice for a truck/BOF SUV IMHO. It really sucks in the Tacoma when it's paired with the AC60 which is practically a double OD....

Do not be surprised if the new twin turbo V6 peaks my interest and I shove it in a truck.

Of course. But these smaller lighter 1st gens. I think 400hp would be the most I’d ever want. And that can be had reliably

Oh for sure. Honestly, I think most pickup trucks are ok stock. I have no desire to supercharge my big fat 2019. She is more than capable of getting out of her own way or ruining tires as is. :burnrubber:

I have the taco for going fast. My tundra is ultimately to do work for me. Tacos practically show truck/ race truck for me once she’s done

I watched this and then drove for lunch and saw a dodge with the flat diff cover. Probably would have never noticed and now I bet I'll see them everywhere.
