Would you like to see Toyota offer a beastly supercharged 6.2L off road truck; reinforced frame, locking rear diff, Adaptive shocks, etc. Basically a dog in the fight with the Raptor and the TRX? It would be expensive but I bet it would sell. In my opinion Toyota needs to get in the fight.

I'd like to see some of those options (locking diff, 6.2 but NA) in a base SR5. No way I can justify wasting over $80k on a truck I'm not going to take anywhere I don't take my cars.

Whatever this forum told me to do
agreed. 1st off...all Tundra needs to do in 2022 is slightly exceed F150 parameters.

2nd...a performance version of a Tundra would sell like hotcakes. bring the TRD name back with a bang. Supercharge the 5.7 to ~575hp
    sway bars, suspension. maybe TRDPro-x

build out the bottom end of the motor a tad - beef up the trans.

even put those traction bars on - like the old days. paint 'em red.

I would buy it. not going to lie.

Are there any 3rd party companies doing this like the old Shelby Mustangs or Yenko Camaro's?

I'd rather see a Tundra HD version then performance.. To me the weakpoint of Tundra is it's hauling capability not the motor.. Aftermarket can take care of suspension an superchargers ect .

    @ViktorG has those answers - I think it’s somewhere around 600 hp / 600 torque and/or 8psi of boost.

Would LOVE to see a 6.2 Tundra like the GM platform has for their half tons. The GMC AT4 with the 6.2L has been such a temptation for me because of that motor.

This, you can add offroad performance easily, you can't add "legal" towing performance.

While it's nice to wish for all this and talk about it, but it's just not Toyota's way. They don't have the sales numbers to support such a move and they don't gamble on things like that.

I'd rather see a 7.0 liter NA engine...then two different formats. Maybe the 5.7 can get there with bore and stroke.

    1) a race truck in vein of the old lightning. 2wd. lowered a bit. Optional superchager kit for the 7.0 for the super-enthusiast and you tube crowd. optional 5.29 gears.
    2) Rock Crawler. front and rear lockers. disconnect able sway bars. 360 camera. optional mud tires. 2-3" lift above current trd pro. factory rock sliders. optional truck topper rack for an RTT.

I'd like to see Toyota build something that will get good fuel economy. A diesel would be a good start. I have buddies with GMs and Dodges that get better fuel economy than I do without trying. They have a 5.7 and 6.2 and average near 20 and I barely get 15 with my little 4.7.

Twin Turbo 4.0 v8 that was dropped from the Lexus future would be very happy in a TRX, raptor killer... but will we get it? Probably not.

I've noticed that Toyota has been offering fewer and fewer no frills basic trucks since the 90's. All we seem to get are fully optioned vehicles that cost ridiculous amounts of money. Give me a truck with vinyl seats, rubber floor mats, roll up windows and a stick shift.

The EPA is killing the stick shifts. It's not up to the manufacturers.

Wishful thinking...I would love to see a high performance version also. But I don't think Toyota will do it, it's not their focus. Look at the new Supra...they didn't spend the time and money for R&D to build their own. Its far from a Toyota product. And it took Ram over 10 years to come out with a Raptor competitor. GM??

I personally think it would be more beneficial for Toyota to come out with a HD version to compete. I think they would sell more HD model than high performance version, there is simply a bigger market for HD trucks.

This is a risk they just aren't taking. The HD truck crowd is pretty stuck in their ways. Lots of them only buy "American" and so it's a gamble. So far, it's a gamble Toyota is unwilling to make.

Some of the videos ive seen the Toyota trucks are already killing the Raptors. From tug of war pulls to drag race. Not sure on longevity of offroad racing.

I don't really care about the size of the motor as long as it's NA. If I can keep it happy on 87 octane, tow, haul, and not be beat to death by bumps, I am pretty happy.

The only things the current Tundra can improve on in my eyes is the MPG and Payload. I don't even mind the MPG as it is, but I wish I had more payload. If they added another 700 lbs of payload and nothing else, I'd be happy. A locker with all the trail goodies out of a TRD 4Runner would be icing on the cake.

Agreed, they tend stick to their bread and butter. They just earned top worlds best selling automaker, they must be doing something right. Like the saying goes...if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
