Want to save a fortune and your future? Set your truck up with a reminder of some kind that will trigger your senses so that you will not find yourself drinking and then driving. A string on your keys to remind you to pass them off, handcuffs somewhere, a bottle opener hanging from the mirror. Doesn't matter! Just do something that will work! I am not saying that I am an angel. Actually, I am saying that I don't remember numerous days due to substance abuse and alcohol. It could have been so much worse and I consider myself very fortunate to still be here. It was so bad that someone had actually stolen my motorcycle and I didn't even know it until the police called looking for me because they found it wrecked in a ditch. Only reason I know it wasn't me who wrecked it is because the ignition was all torn up. Otherwise, I wouldn't even be certain of what exactly happened. So, many good people end up far worse, jailed, broke, divorced, etc. It's just not worth it, and if my story helps just one of you save your future that would be awesome!
So, please take this issue seriously and figure out what mod you can do to remind you that all to often it ends in tragedy and nobody wants that!

I hope you are well and your message may hit home for some..

Some may think it will never happen to them.
I hope your post makes us all think twice before drinking (or whatever) and driving...

I've had 2 coworkers lose their jobs over DWIs the last 10 years.
Employer requires rehab for the first one, but the second one you're gone..

Also having a Texas CDL (commercial driver's license) our BAC limit is lower than everyone else, even if we are off the clock..

Everything About the 2021 Texas Legal Alcohol Limit for Driving | Thiessen Law Firm (thetexastrialattorney.com)

For ordinary, non-commercial drivers, the legal alcohol limit is .08

For commercial drivers holding a CDL, the legal alcohol limit for driving is only .04 — regardless of whether you’re driving your commercial or personal vehicle.

Should you get caught with a BAC of .15% or above, your punishment category (normally a Class B misdemeanor) can be bumped up to a Class A misdemeanor.

Thanks for your support! Yes, I am fine and sober. All this nonsense took place over twenty years ago. However, it still applies and like you, I hope my story will save at least one other person.

"The problem is that we can not bring to mind with sufficient force the memory of what it was like and so we drink again"

If you make it into the car already drunk then it is already too late for reason.

And people without a problem rarely wonder about it.

Yes , if you make it into the car already drunk it is too late, so obviously you need something like say a family photo on your keyring to trigger your senses so that you can pull your ignition fuse or similar before the drinking begins. Just at the very least try. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!

It really is quite simple. If you drink ANY alcohol, don't drive. This concept is foreign to many because they THINK they can ALWAYS control themselves and make rational decisions. But the numbers speak for themselves.

Not to mention, the risks to the INNOCENT people on the road and sidewalks, trying to get home to their families and loved ones.

An impaired driver getting home safe, doesn't mean the trail he left behind without even knowing was unaffected.

Legal limit or not. Don't do it.

No excuse for ANY form of Impaired Driving.

Thank you for your comments to help make the point. You are so right about making it home does not mean anything, and that is my point.

Another note to all: Please spread this message to others in your circle, I know everyone has been told many times, but it still happens so don’t let off the gas!
