I'm looking to get new tires for my 13 cm 4wd TRD offroad currently on 275/65/18.
The current tires have 3/16+ tread depth but I still spin with modest acceleratation during rain (let alone snow).
I'm looking for a tire that will grip when wet and slick BUT not have a lot of road noise.

I'm not going to lift or level, upgrade wheels, etc. I'm sticking to oem. I just want a recommendation for a grippy/quiet tire that will last a decent amount of miles for a decent price.

    I like my Michilins.

I don't think you can get away from the tire spin on wet pavement. Our Tundras have lots of torque.

I understand the torque of the vehicle believe me haha, but my nannies were screaming at me the other day while leaving a stop light.

    What Michelin do you have?

Michelin defender ltx is best all season truck tire IMO. Excellent road manners, great traction even in light snow, 70,000 miles if you rotate them.

As others have stated, the Michelin Defender LTX. It sounds like it would be the perfect tire for you.

I have yet to find a tire that even comes close to their performance in rain, cold, light to moderate snow, and icy/wintery conditions outside of a dedicated winter tire. This includes every AT tire I ran.

The defenders are great and now that I've got 50k on them, they are not getting noisy.

I really think I'm gonna get 70k out of them.

    I think I rotated them twice:anonymous:

4 ppl have convinced me to get the defenders.

They have great reviews on multiple sites as well. So far I've found them for $247 each. I'm still searching for a better price but I suspect it'll be $1.1k.

Try looking on ebay store discount tire direct.
They do some good sales. The $100 off a $400 purchase is the big one. You can make 2 orders with 1 account and get 200 off 800 or more. I've gotten a few sets this way.

Also Michelin runs factory rebates frequently. Can double up with a retailer special and do ok too.

Xwhatever on the Defender. We've got about 36k on a set on my wife's Durango and they're still well over half tread. No issues traversing the 2 snow storms last week.

Really should be able to find just about anyone buying a new Tundra that is swapping for bigger tires and get their take-off Michelins for a great price. You won’t get all the “warranty” stuff, but should be able to get a set from someone for $600-700 easy.

For keeping stock size / setup, they are an awesome tire and perform very well in a lot of conditions. I ran a set on my 2008 for over 60k when I got a complete set of takeoffs with TRD OR rims in 2015 for about $700.

And that’s looking for ltx at2 tires correct? I would prefer the defender ltx if I was spending cash. And want warranty for p-rated.

Gotcha. I get confused on all the different “LTX” models.

Not a bad tire, and for the right price might make sense. But those defenders... the best

6/32 is low for rain and snow conditions when it comes to most tires.

    Defender LTX is great choice

Is that a good or bad "wow"?

I do my own maintenance unless I don't have the equipment. I don't like to wait (and generally pay) for something I can do myself.

The defenders aren’t cheap, but they’re great. If you get 70k out of them that price will be well justified!

Might want to look into a Limited Slip Differential.
This Toyota “electronic LSD” is very lack luster.
I have brand new LTX A/T2s and they spin with a little bit of wetness on an incline.
I am looking at the Auburn.

Having a number of true LSDs on both cars and trucks in the past what is on the Tundra is complete crap. Better than an open diff but not by much.
My Foxbody Mustang that weighs nearly nothing in the back has much better traction in the rear.
