ok... not mood lighting, but some functional dim glow lighting... but mood lighting gets the idea across.

im doing some planning tonight for some electrical work. is there a +12v in the overhead console that is only powered when the truck is on, or even better, just when the lights are on? id like to add some dim red lights that glow just enough to see what you are doing in the center console. ive had the feature in some of my cars, and i absolutely love it.

ive heard there is a plug up there for the auto-dimming mirror. thinking one of them might do it. ill be up there for the mic install on my new bluetooth headunit, so if its an option, id rather snag the appropriate lights before i get the project started.

    thanks

If you turn a dome light on, turn your truck off, then close the door, how long does it stay on?

If the dome light shuts off automatically, then you can just tap into that to add your night lights.

thats not a terrible idea! ill have to look into that. if there isnt an option to only have it turn on when the lights are on, thats definitely the next best option, cause it would be nice to have it glow for a bit after turning off my truck anyways.

You can actually tap onto the mirror harness. It has both switched and constant power. I have my dash cam hardwired to the switched power.

Watching this thread! I’d like to see how exactly you’re going to mount the lights and what kind they are!

Ill keep you posted. I picked up a variety of red leds from superbrightleds to do my rzr the same way. This is going to take a bit more work to keep it more stock looking.
