I've always done my own oil changes and on my last '03 Tundra AC V6 I was able to access the oil filter from behind the front drivers side tire.
On my 2006 DC 2WD, it LQQKS like I've gotta drop the front skid plate to access the filter.
How much 'approx'. does that thing weigh? I threw my back out last June & wanna be prepared.
    Is it a 'head-knocker' ?
    Any 411 would be appreciated.

It doesn't weigh much but everyone swears you can bend over and reach the filter from above. I'm guessing the original one weights 20lbs max.

I used to put a jack under it with a little 2x4. Lift just enough to make contact. Then you can take out the bolts without it falling or putting pressure on the bolts. Once bolts are out you can grab it and slide it out. Probably 10lbs I would guess. Its really thin stamped steel.

That method also helps in reverse to install it.

    That's a good idea.

I'll be using that on my next oil change.

    Thanks!

That's how I do it on my 06 DC RWD. I slightly loosen the filter from above. Double up walmart bags and set the bags on the skid plate under the filter. Spin off the filter real fast and drop it down into the bags. Let the oil from the engine drip into the bags. Remove messy bags with filter. Spin on new filter from above.

I take mine off twice a year to do an oil filter change. Normally I’d go for the reach down method, but the salt would most likely seize the bolts in place without me lubricating them occasionally with the used oil. I will admit the skid plate and side skirts have done a great job preventing rust from getting to the underside of the engine compartment.
