Tundra A/T and M/T Tire Options - Let's hear your reviews

still running my 33's Toyo R/T. really like them. I have about 4,000 miles on them now. Even wear, very minimum. Great in the sand and relatively quiet on the freeway.

 

Had my X3s for about a month now. They were great in the mountains. Never engaged 4wd. I thought I'd see if the tires alone would improve my traction & I wasn't able to make them fail. They didn't, however, have enough grip to keep me planted when I tried to pull a 12" diameter pine tree down with my 12K lb winch doubled on a snatch block
I've never run mud tires on the street before but these don't feel like muds. The sound is very minimal, even on the interstate. Wet traction was perfect. I have zero complaints. Haven't had them in snow yet....

IMO THE FOLLOWING ARE THE BEST ALL TERRAINS OUT THERE. I was floored at how well these things drove, and from a company I never expected high quality from.

::::One of the lesser known Newer tire offerings on the market that are BAD ASS are the Falken Wildpeak A/T3W's. My best friend just put them on his truck about a month ago. I would have never given Falken any serious consideration, but my buddy swore up and down that all the reviews by various 4wheel and truck magazines and online publications of the tires where praising them. They WILL be my next tires having driven his truck and being BLOWN AWAY at how good they are. I currently have BFG KO2's. They are also rated for M/S without feeling overly soft to the touch. He's driven them on snow and ice and won't stop talking about how great they handle. IMO they are the best 4 season truck tire on the market. Here is a link to a great article on them and some photos. I think they have the competitions tires beat in SPADES in this category. His truck has a turbo and a cold air intake and tuner. The grip on these things is insane.

I know Jason Demello is a Falken sponsor and runs Falken MTs on his tundra (dream truck). I just bought tires, and I went with the Toyo MTs. I wanted something aggressive, that would wear well and drive smooth, and all the reviews for the Toyo MTs were really good. I've had them in 2 feet of snow and they virtually never lost traction. I have had truck at 75 on the interstate in 6" of snow cover and no road treatment, in 2wd and never felt the truck even squirm. I've been really happy with them, but I also am a huge fan of Duratracs with very similar results on a previous Tacoma. These Falkens sound ok, but wouldn't be my first choice unless money was tight.

 

The Toyo R/T are suppose to be a in the middle between the A/T and the M/T right?? I've read online they seem noisier than the M/T. Anyone have these in 35/20 or 35/22??

 

I have a new set of 33x12.5 Falken Wildpeaks and love them. No crazy road noise with a aggressive look. Plus the have a small ledge on the knobs of the tires that helps shed mud when driving and washing.

 

I'll just throw this out there.. I love my BFG KM2s (mud-terrain). I've been running them in 37s on 18s for almost 45k miles now. They wear great; also perform great on pavement, sand, dirt, rocks, and mud but could be better in packed snow. My tires have only started to chunk at the knobby tread just now because they're at 25% tread life and I'm still beating on them offroad. The chunking is very minimal, too. The sidewall has only failed me once, and recently, but again that was after almost 45k miles of use and it happened while I was romping down a desert trail and my sidewall got spiked by the sharp end of a rock.

BFG makes great tires and they aren't too costly. Nitto/Toyo are very nice, too, but I just couldn't swing the cost at the time.

 

Are those M/T?

90% of my time is on road so to have a tire drone and listen to my wife drone about it wasn't worth it. I will say i was told there is very little noise from the MT I just wasn't going to take that chance.

 

Anyone have any experience with the Arturo Trail blade M/t seen decent reviews on them

 

A buddy of mine had em on his F250, they were pretty damn loud but he said they did well off-road.

Just replaced the overly aggressive Baja P3's with a set of new Nitto Grappler G2's today. Only paid $280 a piece installed and balanced. Not too bad on 305/50r20's. Looking forward to many good miles on them. If you have experience with these, let me know your thoughts.

What's difference in load range D & E?

 

It's like boobs, the further down the alphabet the heavier the load.

 

So it's the amount of air that the tire holds?

 

OK, I was hoping to put it off until income tax return next year, but I need new tires. Had one go out today (sidewall hole, so it's done), 2 are almost gone and the last is only decent. I might as well replace all 4, but I'm not looking to break the bank right now. I'm thinking about the Falken Wildpeak A/T3W after reading @The Juice and @Hannabl posts and seeing the cost of these. Has anybody else tried them out?

 

they are on my list as well. absent any negative comments i'll be getting them in the next week or so when 4wheel parts decides to ship me the wheels I paid for last week.

I believe so. So where mine holds 65 psi cold I will keep them at 50-55 psi. At least that is how im deciphering this.

 

Well I went ahead and got the Falkens, I've had them on around 2 weeks and I'm loving them so far. They look better than the old tires and they're not loud. Let's see how many miles I can get out of them.

If I had to pick 3... It would be the Ridge Grappler, Toyo RT, STT Maxx in that order. (If cost wasn't an issue)

And my understanding is that Toyo owns Nitto or is the parent company.

 

I am currently running Nitto Terra Grappler G2 - 285/75/18, which is equivalent to a 35x11.50x18. I have been running these tires for 2 years now and currently have a little over 30k miles on them, just about half of tread life remaining. I get them rotated every 5k miles and I don't mash the accelerator on them. Opinions may differ for the snowy conditions, but for me they work out great. Will definitely get another set, also taking it up a step to 37x13.50x20s.
