Except it’s insanely pricey. I’d rather get a mid range stereo for $300 or so and then spend the rest on components. I could probably build a badass system for the price of one 12” screen

    Agreed!
I’ve put wayyyyyy too much dough into mine to trade it in on a truck where you change gears like washing machine cycles.

    A bunch
I'm just spitballing on the DC, but if given the choice to cut costs do they do 2 cabs with the same frame or 2 beds but needing 2 different frame lengths? Myself I'd prefer the second and there is just so few buyers of DC now, it seems it's either Crew Cab or RC (which are still super rare).

I'd much prefer buttons to a rotary dial, but a beefier column shift would be my most preferred - I want the extra space in the console.

And I'm betting on Toyota using a lot of the 8500 lb limit for half ton class to build a beefier frame to handle not only 15k in towing but the 2500 lbs of payload that's needed for that towing.

I have a hybrid venza for a loaner today while they fix my windshield. I dont like the way it operates at all.

I sure hope if Toyota is only going to offer 1 motor, this hybrid TT V6 they better get it right, it seems like a big gamble if its the only motor.

What's different about it? I've never driven a hybrid, but did have ridden in a Prius and couldn't tell any difference in the way it drove. Maybe if I was driving, I would've noticed some difference.

Maybe it’s the regenerative braking ? You can’t just let off the gas and coast , it starts slowing down like you’re braking .

Try driving in tow/haul mode and see if the feel improves. To me driving out of tow/haul mode feels like the truck is running on only 7 cylinders.

It takes a little time to get used to. My wife has a Prius V and she hated it on the first test drive. Second test drive she liked the MPG numbers so decided to get it because of that (she does about 40,000 miles a year so MPG is important). Now she loves the car; it just turned over 100,000 miles and I wanted to get her a new one but she refused.

I assume with a twin turbo V6 hybrid the experience will be a little different than the little Prius sewing machine engine, but likewise there will just be a learning curve and some time to get used to it.

I do like my V8 but I am open to hybrid technology - Toyota knows how to do that.

I have a friend of the family that's on their 3rd transmission on their 2020/2019 Tacoma. They only purchased it because of how dependable my vehicles have been over the last 15 years. I didn't press the issue or even suggest a Toyota to them but when they told me why they purchased their first Toyota, man I felt bad. That thing has left them on the side of the road many times.

My buddy did mention that took a little bit to get used to, but now he doesn't even think about it. I feel the same way about driving a Polaris Ranger or some of the other side by sides. As soon as you take your foot off the gas, it feels like it is braking. Takes a couple of times to get used to always having your foot on the gas.

in full disclosure I only drove it from the dealer to work and from work to the dealer, when my tundra was fixed. it seemed to want to stop as soon as you let off the gas and also the 4 cylinder motor doesn't run smooth at all, there was a decent amount of vibration when it was running. also it seems to be confused on what was propelling the vehicle forward, you were getting a push but the gas motor didn't seem like it was reving enough to smooth out.

also, obviously its a WAY different world than my v8 tundra.

when I got back into my truck I was like ahhh ok there we go, gave it a little gas to feel the nice torque.

just not used to or liking the hybrid deal from that little bit of interaction

I would hope that a V6 TT hybrid would be way different, if not, I m out for sure and Ill buy the 6.2 AT4 from GM.

Im excited to see the new tundra though

I drove a Prius 8 years ago, and actually read the manual to find out what the mystery gear "B" was. Good thing I did, since I was doing daily 335-mile drives through the Idaho mountains. You have to shift into "B" if you want ANY engine braking. It decreased MPG a bit, but kept you from burning out the brakes.

Im checking out that ford hybrid, it has me interested, that 7Kw on board generator is a great idea. I built a lariat 4x4 and it has tons of nice stuff on it.

I wonder if Toyota does this hybrid deal if they will have something like this. what a great truck feature.

Ford makes a good truck. I’ve got a 2015 Lariat with a 130k miles. I’ve loved it. You could do worse.

I don't think I'd buy the first model year of anything. Coming from an F150, at this point I think I'd rather buy a 2021 Tundra, and see how things settle over the next few years. As good as my 3.5 EcoBoost was, around town it was terrible on gas, which was 90%+ of my driving. Also, Consumer Reports has lowered their reliability ratings since Ford has added all these new gadgets and whizzbangs. I don't like the front end of the new F150, the generator is the only new thing I'd be interested in. Lay back seats, nope. Fold down gear shifter, nope. All those gadgets fail over time, and solve a problem I'm not having. So where does that leave me?
