Focusing on the backyard now. Laid down some sod. 12 rolls. Decided to do it on one of the California winter days where it’s a chilly 80 degrees out.

Yes, it does. Little delays again, but the hall bath and kitchen should be 100% complete before next weekend. Hoping to start demo on the master bath the week of the 25th. Still have a ways to go with paint, baseboards, lighting, fans, etc. but it is picking up the pace a little compared to last month.

Greased the hinges on our bedroom door so it doesn't squeak and wake our daughter (who still has to room share for a couple more months) when we come to bed.

Got the corner brackets for the kitchen shelves painted. Just realized I don't have a picture of them after finish coat, so only while getting primed.

Went to install a new light fixture by the front door enterence. Removed the old light fixture (pictured below partially removed) and this is what I found....wire coming straight through the drywall and no box. The old light was hung with drywall screws by the mounting plate. Too dark to mess with it tonight, so I capped the wires off and turned the power back on. I ran to Lowe's and picked up a mounting box and will fix it correctly tomorrow. :annoyed:

I’ve been doing some research on ideas for summer projects and improvements. I’ve always been a fan of skylights but I really like theses walkout skylights for my third story roof. I like that these skylights are very functional and they fold up flat when not in use. 0C670BE1-F5EE-4591-B382-9EE7E7348AF5.jpg 7A56BAA0-3525-45AA-88AD-7A3718AB1F10.jpg

I've seen those before. Kinda makes me wish I was brave enough to try them on my upstairs bonus room. It worries me about leaking and all, but I guess like anything, if done properly and carefully, it would be fine

I'll start off with I learned I'm complete shit at woodworking and Home Depot can't measure 12" to save their lives when you ask them to cut a 4x4. Unfortunately picked up a steal on a 12" new Dewalt miter saw AFTER I had HD cut the supports. But lagged my Husky desk into the wall today. 4x4 8 foot beam behind with 4 1 foot supports. 14 3/8" lag screws holding it all in place. Might have gone overkill but whatever. Found out the garage has settled and sloped about 6 degrees downward.. didn't find out until I was 3/4 of the way into the project. Had to cut shims to level out what I could with HD'S messy 12" cuts they did for me. Excuse the mess.

Yesterday I trimmed branches that were over-hanging our roof - we have some kind of rodent in the walls and if it's a squirrel, I don't want to make it easy on it. I also crawled the lower part of the roof and put steel wool in any cracks or crevices I saw (I don't think any of them are the access point for the little bastard. After all of that, I found a spot I missed years ago when I did my hardware cloth underpinning and filled that in with steel wool. I also freshened all of my traps with fruit loops and peanut butter. I'm trying to avoid crawling under the house and putting more traps.

Last time I did sod, came out in the morning and it was all neatly rolled back up. WTF? Racoons had come and rolled it back up in their search for grubs.

I wish my garage was sloped so the melt-off from the vehicles wouldn't just sit on the floor in the winter.

Yeah towards the garage door for drainage (which it is). This pic is towards the rear of the garage where I'm assuming it settled (causing a high point in the center of the garage sloping both towards and away from the garage door frame). Water will potentially pool in the corner of the garage unnecessarily. Doesn't bother me though...it's a garage meant for garage things :headbang:
