Leveling 2007 Limited

Good day, all. New guy here. I've read through the forums before and thought it was time to join up.

I have a stock black 07 Limited double cab and I'm finally in a position to start making some mods to it. I love this truck but I want to make it my own. The first thing I want to do is lower the back of the truck so it sits level. I don't haul a lot of really heavy stuff or tow at this point so that isn't a concern.

Has anyone done this and if so, what kit did you use? I found this from S.O.S Performance but wanted to see if there are other options out there.

Where I live, most people lift their truck. The road condition here is atrocious. Lowered truck is not very functional. You guys must have better roads.

@csuviper Yeah, I think that's my best route. I was hoping to get away with a little less expensive but it seems to be worth the money. Or maybe I'm just a cheap-ass

 

Did you end up with the SOS kit ?

 

The usual approach is to slightly raise the front rather than to lower the back. You could just throw on a couple of Bilstein 5100s at the middle height setting. That won't hurt your ride quality measurably, and you won't be compromising the tow/haul capability.

Of course I'm just being polite. Lowering a perfectly good truck is just cray cray, IMO

 

Hahaha the amount of "nay sayers" out there that hate on lowered tundras is hilarious! Especially when they try to say that it's impractical to lower a tundra. Lowering can do many practical things. Lower the centre of gravity, increasing handling. A lower tail gate makes loading and unloading easier.

 

For short people...sure.

With you on that.

You pull in the wrong parking lot and have to go around the block to pull in the right one......or jump the curb.....which would you want then? A lowered tundra or a lifted tundra?

So you need a lifted truck to hop a curb ? Besides the OP, like me, is just looking good for a way to eliminate the rake by lowering the rear end down 2". Dropping 2" in the ass end won't prevent you from hopping curbs or speed bumps.

Back to my question. Steve Animal.. did you get the SOS rear lowering kit ?

 

Drop shackles would take work on the tundra... OEM are already as short as they can get
