I recently did a complete system from JRT and I love the clear vocals/highs and the bass but looking for more midrange. Seems to be a “gap” if that makes sense. Does anyone know if these fit? They get phenomenal reviews, and if not, anyone have any recs for something similar? Looking for more “warm sounds” if that helps.

I already knew those fit. The reviews of those are basically that they are extra tweeters. Something I absolutely do not need. I’m hoping to find some warm sounding mids that fit there. I’m willing to cut some to make some good ones fit there if I have to.

Xmas? Typo? Haha. I’m guessing you mean the depth could be an issue as the cone could touch the grille?

The infinity mids won't fit because the mounting depth is more than 1-1/2". You will have to cut into the HAVC Duct. Easy to do.

Thanks I’ll email him and ask him about those. I would think he would have one that’s primarily a mid that would fit.

Keep in mind you have about 3/8" from mounting point to bottom of grille. That's without brackets.

Yes to head unit, I have the Kenwood DMX1057. No to sound deadener.

I found my system sounds better without the dash speakers.
Kenwood HU and Apline PDX V9 amp.
The Focal PS165FX in the doors with the tweeter in the door sail sound great.

It all sounded great, but I was still curious if some mids in the dash would help.
I tried those Kenwood Excelon KFC-X2C with JRTs dual center JL tweeters with my Focals.
Had James prewire them plug and play, which was nice.

The sound was too in your face.
It was too bright, the PS165FX are bright enough without help.

Given the dash speakers where straight off the HU and the doors are thru the amp..
It made everything sound off, I think it also threw my TA off a tad...
Kind of hard to adjust front TA when some speakers are going thru an amp and some come straight off the HU.
I pulled the dash sides and center out and sold them..

The member I sold them to seemed to be happy with them.
So they aren't a bad setup, just didn't work with what I had..

I think the only way I would put mids in the side dash, is if I had 3-way front components and those mids ran off the component crossover and amp..

This is great info. I just have a hard time believing with the gap I am experiencing in my sound that I couldn’t find something to fit there that would help. I guess I could just disconnect the dash like you did and upgrade my Hertz fronts to something higher end that is known for the warmer mids like the Audiofrogs.

You could go with GB60s on the door panels and GB15s on the sail panels and get perfect sound.

You could try a set of Unity drivers. You would also want the crossover. It s the key to adjusting mid range.

Cool. They are still in the box. My second hd900/5 should be back from jl in a week or so, then I'll finally be able to finish my setup
