Cannot get my front two interior lights to work when the door(s) are open. If I push the button both work perfectly fine. Middle over-head light works fine as well. Have not checked the fuses yet, but other than that cannot figure out what the issue might be. I found another thread that has a button where you can toggle on and off, but as you can see in my pictures my 04 does not have that.

Maybe not an option for your year?

AFAIK our year doesn't have a "door" option for the front dome lights like the rear dome light has. The front dome lights only work with the push button.

I'm sure it wouldn't be too difficult to DIY if you were inclined. Splice into the door light wire, run up to the dome light.

Interesting. Possibly totally unrelated and doesn't really help you, but the front dome lights in my '05 DC come on and operate as the rear dome light does when the door is open.

Im guessing you just have the switch turned to "off" for the rear dome lights and that is why they dont come on when the door is open?

I think you misread my post. My front and rear dome lights operate in the same manner when the door opens and closes.

Oh I did sorry, I had an 00' AC and both front and rear operated in the same manner as well. I don't know why they would do that only to the 04 but looks like that may be the case.

You can splice it in to rear light, shouldn't be too difficult since you don't have the sunroof. Use a coat hanger or similar to fish the wires.

You will have to add a diode otherwise the rear light will turn on when you use the switches up front.

You'll also need to solder the wires directly to the lamp holders instead of tapping the wires so the rear switch will retain the off/open/on for both sets of lights.

Not sure I'm reading your post right as my answer seems too simple... Do you have an on/door/off toggle on the main cabin overhead light? More easily accessed from the back seat. Sounds like it is in OFF position and you want it in DOOR position. From your pics it looks like you have the switch.

That's how it works on my 05 DC. But maybe just different options depending on trim levels.

04 being the stepchild year is apparently different as my DC doesn't function that way either.
