So I am seriously considering on doing the color matched bumper end conversion but would like to see some pics of those that are already color matched. If you got pics, post them up. Thanks in advance!

Are you looking for a youtube on how to install them or how to paint them? Theres plenty of info on here on how to swap them out. Some pretty good write ups actually.

I would prefer to just install pre-painted ones. Do you have the thread. I can't seem to locate.

By the way. That blue is insane. Love it

I'm mostly looking from pics to push me over the fence, but if anyone wants to provide a link on the installation that would be great.

Do it Dave! If I ever color match, I'm going to powdercoat them, I found a place in Oakland that's really cheap. They did my giant sliders for $80 each so the corners would probably be way less. Leons powdercoating.

Oh, I'm so very tempted ... I like the chrome, but feel by colormatching the ends it will give me more of a unique look. Just wondering if I'm better off taking my ends off and blasting the chrome off and painting or just buying the parts off of Roman. Another issue is if I buy the parts are any of said parts, part of the recall?

This is my plan. Actually picked up a used set of OEM rear ends and bought some CAPA certified fronts from rock auto. They've been sitting and waiting for a day that its nice and sunny, my truck to be clean, and me have some time off work to stop by the powder coat shop. (Yay northern Arizona weather.) Thinking of just saying screw it and going gloss white just to be done with it. I also offroad a decent bit, and dont want to deal with vinyl wrap, or plastidip. I want it done and done right. Also, not paying for Painted ones. Got a quote when I bought my PRO grille and said "no".

Powder coating looks to be a cheaper option ... I wonder how close of a color match can they get.

They have a sheet of paper with color samples. There were about 20 different blacks probably just as many whites. I think it will come down to which one you pick. This place is a huge factory. It's not a small shop where they're going to give you great one on one service. You can call them up and send pics of the pieces and get a quote over email. Make sure you do that because you'll get a much better price.

Here are my color matched end caps from Roman. They were pricey but worth it. Roman had it color matched for me and the paint matches perfectly. It totally changed the look of my truck, for the better.

One comment on the color matched end caps ... I was a little bit surprised they were fiberglass (or plastic ... can't tell) instead of steel or some other painted alloy. I had a DCSB TRD Sport Tacoma prior to this with the color matched fiberglass (or plastic) front bumper so I guess I shouldn't have been too surprised Toyota also went this route on the Tundra. The Tundra's chrome end caps are rock solid, so the bumper was a whole lot lighter when I reinstalled it with the color matched caps. I would still buy the color matched caps if I had it to do over again, although I would have bought them much sooner.

Well, I have tried matching 2 different shades of vinyl with my Silver Sky and have come very close with one and not so much the other. I found a site that has both of the shades I have tried and found that they have a couple of more shades of silver through 3M that I will try out. Stay tuned ... I'll report my findings.

    https://www.fellers.com/photo-viewer?photo=colors/702.jpg&title=Sterling+Silver

I've been told that this matches up pretty close ... doesn't seem to have enough metallic to me.

    https://www.fellers.com/photo-viewer?photo=colors/693.jpg&title=White+Aluminum

This one I'm looking forward to seeing the sample!

Color matching front bumper caps purchased from ToyotaofCoolSprings and another $300 to have local body shop paint the grill black and install the front bumper caps.

My latest report isn't as good as I had hope ... I've tried 4 different vinyl samples to match Silver Sky Metallic and couldn't find the perfect match that I had hoped for. I believe I'm gonna try and find someone that does powder coating and see what they can do.

That's actually great. I've been trying to figure out if I wanted to go TRD Pro or not...I just think it's almost too common. This looks great!

I talked to my dealer parts guy and he said that the bumper cap plastic replacements do not come color matched. This includes Pro. What trash.

I buy a Pro and need new bumper caps and I cannot just buy replacements.

So from what he was telling me, if you bought your truck with color matched caps - you must have them painted (regardless of model) - if you buy replacements

    Heres my frontend match

Unfortunately I believe he's telling you the truth. That's why I have been trying to find a matching vinyl (for Silver Sky Metallic) without luck and now will have to look into powdercoating before considering painting.

    Man crazy.

I get the color match chrome thing. But if I buy a truck with it already colored - there should be direct replacements.

I recently swapped out my chrome front end bumpers for color matched painted plastic ones. It seems the metal chrome bumpers were slightly thicker than the painted plastic and now the housing for my fog lights isn't sitting securely. I can see the light from my fogs jumping around every time I hit a bump and it drives my crazy. Anyone else have this problem and if so, what did you do to fix it?

I learned that 2 weeks into owning my tundra with color matched rear bumpers. I destroyed one of them and found out they don't come painted from the dealer and that's how I've got an unpainted bumper end sitting in my garage covered in dust.
Does anyone know a matching powder coat for a midnight Metallic? I'm interested in powdering my front bumper ends.

I noticed my fogs were also looser than I wanted when I reinstalled them into the color matched end caps so I put 2-3 zip ties on the back of the plastic housing (where the fog lights snap into place) to snug them up a bit. It helped quite a bit but they still aren't as tight as they were in the chrome end caps.

Ok, I was thinking of doing something similar. I'm curious what Toyota does with the Pros and Platinums that come with factory painted bumpers to keep the fogs tight. I haven't heard anyone else report this problem.
