    Lots of shenanigans.
Gonna be upgrading my 17 Tundra TRD PRO soon with some new shoes. What're y'alls thoughts on BFG KO2 vs Nitto Ridge vs Falken Wildpeak? Taking into account performance, weight, etc. Gonna shoot for the 285/70-75/r18 range.

I was originally gonna go with the BFG KO2, but lots of members in the forum think that they aren't what they use to be. Seems like they are the lightest out of the 3 and are the cheapest. I live in the panhandle of FL and this will be my daily driver. Daily commute is 50 miles (there and back) every day on the highway. I want AT so I would feel comfortable when I take the rig out for camping. Not planning on rock crawling yet but for sure need something that can withstand mud. Any and all input would be much appreciated!

Where have you taken it off-road? How loud is it on the highway? Average MPG?

Offroad - mild forest service roads in N arizona
Snow - performed well in a small dusting in N arizona
Noise - WAAAY quieter than my previous Cooper ST MAXX, I don't know how to quantify noise. My stock TRD Exhaust is louder.
Average MPG - so far 13.1, not corrected for size.

i taken my to New mexico, Midland and livingston in Texas. No noise when pulling a RV neither. Im dont worry about MPG because are Tundras are not the best in that department.

There are few options in 285/70-18. There are a couple MT tires and Nitto RG and exo ATs. That size is also pretty expensive compared to other 275/285/295 sizes.

295/70 or 285/75 sizes will offer a lot more choices.

Moving away from stock tire size on a Tundra means E load tires which are heavier and ride harder. You asked about MPG- installing larger tires in the sizes I mentioned, you will see 1.5 to 2 MPG decrease.

What made y'all go the Falken Wildpeak over any of the other competitors?

Also, what's the longevity like for the falken wildpeak?

Wanted to try something new. Only have ~1500 miles so far. Doing a 5 tire rotation so planning on getting quite a few miles out of them. As I need them to hook up in snow/offroad/etc i'll probably replace at around ~5-7 32nds of tread left.

I've had the Falkens for about 3 years now, they wear well, quiet for what they are, and handle everything great. I would get them again, also they are reasonably priced.

If tread warranty or winter rating (I'm guessing no for you) is a concern, check the specs for the size you want.

I went with Falken for the above reasons. Getting installed on Saturday.

Husband put BFGs on his Tundra and has had them almost 50k now with no issues and they're maybe half worn. I had them on my Taco and Wrangler and will be putting them on my Tundra in a month or two. They're quiet, do great in the snow contrary to the whining I've seen on here (I live in Maine), haven't had issues balancing them personally (all E rated, don't ask my why tf I put those on my wrangler..), and IMO look the best. But only if they're white letter out.

I had no issues with KO2 when I was running them. they tend to catch rocks though because of the big lugs.

I just switched from Falkens to Nitto RGs. The Falkens wore well, they were quiet and handled fine with everything I did with them but at 40k miles they were just about done. There was also a lot of sidewall cracking for their age. I did have the SL rated ones on a 20" wheel so that probably played a big role, the E rated I think have deeper tread new and is a harder compound. I thought about them when I upgraded but I wanted something better and the price of the Falkens went way up over the years due to popularity (I bought the last set for $600 new, now they're almost $1,000). So far the Nittos are also very quiet, look f**king killer and are made in the US . I wouldn't buy the Falkens again, they did well for the price I paid for them but now I think you can get a better tire for a little more, IMO.

Love my Wildpeaks. On my daily driver and does great in rain and regular conditions with minimal noise. Drove through 6 inches snow on unplowed dirt/gravel roads just a few weeks back and i had zero problems. I've used them offroad a bit and no complaints, just not stellar in mud which is to be expected for any all terrain.

Had Ridge Grapplers on my 17 pro CM for about 8000mi, they came on the truck but were practically new. The were not bad but I have now had 6 sets 275 70 r18 in a row of KO's and KO2's combined on my 08 f150 fx4. I dropped the coin and had 275 70 r18 KO2's put on her today. I kept the Ridge Grapplers because they were in good condition to put on my previous truck when those KO2's wear out because it has 285k mi but I really can tell the better ride, traction, and lower noise that I missed. My opinion is if you want a more size options go Ridge Grappler.....function KO2's all day long hands down. I cant speak to the other brands. My off roading is mainly deer hunting public land. Top is 275 70 r18 KO2's and bottom is 275 65 r18 RG2021-01-13 13.20.31.jpg

    Lots of shenanigans.
Thanks for all of the inputs everyone!

Im leaning towards the BF KO2’s and Falken Wildpeak AT. I know that some folks mentioned that the Falkens are good in the snow and I’ve heard nothing but positive for the KO2’s but if anyone has anymore experience on sand or mud (with these 2 tires) that would be appreciated! Like I said, I live in the panhandle of FL so snow isn’t a thing here. That being said, my other and I plan on doing trips up north. Unsure how often we’ll be able to do them but would prefer not to be stuck in snow. I’ll have a winch as well.

I got the falken wildpeaks 275/60r20 sl on mine. They're great in the rain and offroad too. My property has that hard pack chert mud and they handle it well after it rains and gets soupy. I've put 12k on mine since I installed them back in February of last year.

None of your choices are good for mud. If you are staying away from an MT then I would go with Duratracs, Cooper ST Maxx, or the Discount Tire Goodyear AT that is exclusive to them. I had the first 2 on a Tacoma and road noise was not bad.

I have the exact truck as yours minus the flares. What lift is that with those tires? getting lift and tires in a few weeks so I'm trying to get an idea what it will look like.

absolutely no problems with my RG. Used in Hunting, boat ramps and snow. They are not MT's by no means but i would get them over the KO2's. I love how much more aggressive they look than the KO2's.
I have not had wildpeaks but have had K02's.

Dumb question but are the BFG KO2 and Falken Wildpeaks E rated or do I need to specifically ask for that?
