I've not done a Sequoia, but I've done a few others. The hardest part is routing the video feed wire. On an aftermarket head unit that is set up for video, you just need to hit the video RCA jack and the trigger wire (reverse signal) from the HU harness. Power is easy too - ground to anything, and for the positive, I prefer to run to something that has power whenever the truck is in accessory or on. Most of the cameras tell you to tap in to the reverse lamps, but that means the camera is only on when you are actually in reverse - I prefer to have power to the camera whenever I want it, and then I can use the camera for more than just reverse (like when parking, or hooking up a trailer).

Unfortunately, I didn't get to the anytime camera today. But I DID make a lot of progress on the shelf brackets for the kitchen (except that my basement stinks like spray paint right now). And I managed to get my de-chroming done inside and get my USB ports/power all routed and tied in. I'll try to get pictures up on my build thread a little later...need to go eat warm up a little.

Appreciate it, the RCA jack is pretty straight forward. The Sequoia is an 04 so I'm assuming it doesn't have a trigger wire behind the HU? I think I need to order a kit first and stop trying to figure it out before I have my hands on anything.
    Thanks for the help.

Almost 20 years as an electrician/wireman but car audio/video is Greek to me! :anonymous: I'll get it though, no way I'm paying for an install.

You installing an aftermarket HU, or keeping factory?
    Edit:
I assume you’ve got aftermarket, and realized what you meant - that even though the HU likely has a trigger wire, the car probably doesn’t send reverse signal to the HU.

without looking into some wiring diagrams, I’m not sure... but it’s also not hard to find one. The HU wiring would want it to be able to know when to switch into camera automatically, so for cars that don’t have the signal at the back of the radio already, there is usually a signal wire that comes from the shifter or transmission (which is what triggers the reverse lights).

I’m not an electrician, but I find myself easily geeked out on solving wiring issues.

Yep, aftermarket unit is already installed and it's "backup camera ready".
Gotcha, I'll dig around on the HU wiring harness and see what I come up with. If I find the right camera kit, it may be all figured out for me. Thanks again.

What HU is it? Did you do the install? If so, what factory adapter harness did you use? Grabbing the wiring info for both of those would be a good start. I’m not as familiar with the Gen 1 wiring, so don’t know what options were available in which trim levels for the 2004 Sequoia. I do know a guy with Mitchell OnDemand that I could pull wiring diagrams from if needed.

No worries. I’ve been working on my write-up on the Media/CarPlay port relocate. I’ll try to see if I can dig around and find any info tomorrow that might help.

Don't spend a lot of time with it, my lack of knowledge on this install shouldn't inconvenience you at all. :hattip:

What beach is that? I went to Fort. Stevens to do the same but it looked blocked off and a ton of debris on the beach.

Hey guys been a minute since I have been in here. Have been busy with work and stuff. I did wake up today and finished everything I needed for my new job. As soon as the wife gets home printing my offer letter and thats it. Rest of the week off and start day shift for a few weeks on Monday.

Was going to smoke a pork butt on Wednesday but that has just been switched to a brisket on Friday night/ Sat morning.
Hope everyone has a great week.

Wow...I was feeling good about smoking four butts last weekend, but the only "processing" I did on the meat was the check-out counter at Costco. So you raise your own pork and use your knives to process it...you're living the dream!

Good to see this topic at the top of the recent thread section!

Hi everyone, recently bought a TRD Pro Lunar that I am really happy about.

Got the topper and line x installed last week and waiting for some $$ to continue the setup.
Spent my saturday afternoon buffing because of some pretty deep pinstripes during the last run. Happy with the result but really looking for a better solution as I am not planning to stop getting out there but would still try to keep the paint as it is for a moment. I was wondering if a ceramic coating or something like that would help :) any idea?

I've read some discussion on the Anytime camera, installed mine 2 weeks ago (Front Nakita + Harness). I believe that I did a pretty clean wiring but had some horizontal interferences when using it. Even when engine was turn off. No noise on the rear one and even with moving the harness and kept having these. Contacted the support and after few emails they sent me a new camera. I hope this will fix the issue and will let you know once I receive/install it!

I wish you an happy new year and who knows, maybe 2021 will be the year where we go after the same adventure!

Anyone else without power after the storm last night? Looks like the puget sound area had over 300k outages at the peak.

    Glad I took today off...

No power out here, but I lost a couple of trees (just alders - but one came down about 15' from the house) and there was shit all over the place from the wind.

Forward looking camera, Stub Antenna, 3M clearshield. A few other non lifted items.
Power was out, not even cell service. Got the generator running and hooked up. The power literally came on 2 minutes later about 7am.

still a lot of outages per Puget power outage map. One news had over 500K without power.
