Yes. Even if you are at your desired weight, you should at least fast for 24 hours once a month! The benefits of daily or weekly fast are too much to type!

new valve cover gaskets, new water pump (timing belt done since it was apart, new radiator and cap, new spark plugs.

It really wasn't that good of a video at all unfort

 

I've replaced the tailgate stays, and the lock assemblies as well as a new handle. The last thing bugging me (currently) with the tailgate is when I shut it, it does not sit tight against the body. There's a little wiggle/gap that is bothersome to my brain.

I've tried adjusting the lock assemblies to be “further” away so they have to be closer to grab, but seems to be no difference.

This being a new to me truck, I don’t know if this is “out of spec”. The tailgate doesn’t fall down and I can yank on it without it releasing. Just wish it felt more tight.

Any suggestions?

 

In order to fix mine last year I had to do the opposite of what someone recommended. I was able to make it tighter that way. Maybe try moving them closer? It took me many attempts before I got it right.

 

Move the strikers inwards. Thats a pretty significant gap.

 

Sometimes when we had to do a quick Hand Model shoot and our hands were overweight looking we’d wrap them in Saran Wrap so they sweat it off. Good for at least a 5lbs. drop ‘to the eye’.

 

My poor step dad is getting hosed I think. He has a nearly mint condition 2005 Frontier he bought new. It's got 208,000 miles. He told me he paid $1,200 to have his coil packs and spark plugs replaced last year. I told him that was insane. Now that same shop is quoting him $2,600 to replace the cat's and all 4 O2 sensors. I realize cats are not cheap but they are charging him $900 in parts for the 02 Sensors... What gets me is that he's already replaced the cats once(years ago). I don't see why they keep failing.

When I drove it 2 weeks ago it seemed like the transmission could be on the way out. All those factors combined he's considering just selling it. I just can't believe they want $900 in parts for 02 sensors. I guarantee this independent shop isn't using OEM parts.

 

geeez! I'd check the cats and see if they are 'OEM' from when they changed them the last time and if not make a suit of out it. Sleezy shops piss me off. I'd try and catch them red handed and proceed legally till my last name is on the shop building

 

I would swap the sensors first, clear the codes and see what happens. What symptoms did it have causing him to bring it there to begin with?

 

Just a check engine light. When he replaced the cats years ago it was at the dealer so I'm assuming they used(or should have used) OEM units. I feel for him but he's also just so stubborn about doing any work himself. It looks like you can get NGK 02 sensors for around $100. That seems so much more reasonable than what they are asking.

 

How did your apple fall so far from the tree? You seem more than willing to dive into whatever or ask questions for the right direction of action. What’s his deal?

I’m super thankful my mom has found a amazing “import” mechanic for her rav4; super straight shooter and tells her what can wait and what NEEDS to be done. She’s also found a decent diesel mechanic for the Sierra duramax; I think those guys get wood every time she brings the truck in, they also scold her for not putting enough miles on it(it’s a tow pig, a bad ass one at that)

 

It's my stepdad not my real dad but my real dad is the same way. They are both old, stubborn, and unwilling to try and do the work themselves.

Well my phone jumped out of my pocket at a lake trip 2 weeks ago, so I don’t have any right now........ haha
But I think it’s a 05 maybe? White double cab short bed.
my sister drove it for a bit, and said old men would approach her everywhere and be like” how do you like that Allison transmission?” She would respond “does it look like I would know?”
I’ve only towed our toy hauler once on 55mph roads so it wasn’t anything impressive, the brakes are definitely scary!!!!! Even when it’s not towing.
I have driven it up some pretty steep grades no load; that thing is soooo fun to drive!!!!!
I’ve almost gotten it stuck up to the frame in soft orchard mud(my mom was watching and laughing) but I paved my way out.

 

That's hilarious, I wouldn't doubt a woman driving that truck by herself would get a lot of unwanted attention unfortunately. The Sierras of that era look better than the cat eyes also!

On his first time out, my dad was fighting the skinny pedal in soft blowsand with the toy hauler attached. He went and got different tires after that. His is a '15 and I've used it a few times, it's fun to take off at stop lights and handles trailers nicely. In the interior, it has a lot of very nice bells and whistles, but I prefer the simplicity and timelessness our trucks provide.

 

My dad bought it chipped and banksed I believe, but he traded a guy for his stockers for some reason, the guy tried to give my dad cash, but now it just has Michelin’s, which is great for what we use it for. I try to keep an eye on shit for her, but she usually takes it somewhere to get it worked on.
The creature comforts are nice for sure, I think it’s got rear dvd something or other.......we’ve never used it!!!
The sound system is nice and the heated seats were nice, the one time i drove in cold weather(same trip up the steep grades)

 

What I noticed is that my Tundra's seat heaters are stronger than his. He has seat A/C and that works surprisingly well in the desert though. He also has a '15 2nd Gen Taco and those seat heaters are extremely hot!!

 

89 yota pickup, bed and frame are toast... thinking if the price is right, buy, swap a taco frame (one In Cali for free...) under it, trail rig with flatbed
