    Lots of shenanigans.
Got a 17 Tundra TRD Pro Double Cab and wanna start doing some research on upgrading the sound system. Don't wanna go crazy on expenses. Just want an upgrade from the stock sound system (which I think is pretty bad) What are y'alls recommendations? No set budget yet.

Also, I plan on putting some sound deadening so anyone have recommended brands?

I put in a new HU, high quality speakers in the doors and a small sub under the rear seat. It sounds worlds better than stock.

Headunit Sony XAV AX7000 high output so additional amp needed other than for the subwoofer.
    NVX tweeters in the dash
Kicker 6X9 in the front doors
Kicker 6.5’s in the back doors

The Subwoofer has been elusive? All options take place of the under seat storage so after a little thought and trial/error mission accomplished.

I'm pretty dumb when it comes to audio stuff and my last truck was an 08 dodge ram 1500 so having a head unit is pretty new to me. The stock one seems perfectly fine to me, what else does upgrading the HU do besides apple car play? It looks like a pretty expensive purchase so just trying to better understand your reasoning.

The sound signal comes from the head unit. Amps amplify that signal. It all starts with the head unit.

    $500 for the headunit
    $250 for the speakers
    $200 for the sub/amp/materials
$100 for the sound deadening.. not a must but worth it!
About another $40-50 in misc adapters and wires.

Yeah, probs not gonna spend anywhere near that lol. My personal focus on my rig is primarily overlanding/camping. I honestly don't listen to music all that much. Mainly podcasts and audiobooks but I'd like a budget upgrade for the long journeys. The kickers that @MTRock seem pretty legit. I am using this website that helps build an audio package:

Get the ReadyHarness!! From Crutchfield for the headunit.

    the rest I got here
    https://www.sonicelectronix.com/

Be cautious with mounting depth! My 6x9’s are tight! Had to shave the inner door panel and the magnet is against the window guide!

If i were you, just change the head unit and call it a day. It will give you a sense of accomplishment. Kenwood DMX1057XR has built-in Amp, EQ, and DSP. Top of the line Touch Screen.

Makes your headunit Plug and play! Will save you a couple hours of soldering. And reading wiring diagrams!

I spent right at $1k on a tech12volts kit for my double cab. Amp, sub, door speakers and all necessary wiring. Plug and play from James over there. I’m electrically illiterate and was able to install it in a short day. Sounds great. Not sure if the 20 head unit is any better than the 17 but it’s fine for me. Also did a pile of oil at inside the doors and rear of the cab. Soundskins on the inner doors.
