Currently: Python alarm with autostart, JDMCar console organizer. About to do: Trd Sway bar, Amp Research bed extender, ESP under seat storage, DIY wireless phone charging mod, Tyger "star armor" running boards, Husky xact fit mats. Thinking about doing very soon and researching more: Lift or level kit (with closest to stock ride), replace the current 20" wheels with 18" trd pro wheels and BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 Radial Tire -LT275/70R18/E 125/122R (or similar) Start of summer adding: Full stereo replacement with android auto/wifi head unit, midrange to high end speakers and amp, JL audio pre designed dual sub Tundra enclosure, Yakima 5 bike tilting hitch carrier with snowboard attachment, darkest privacy tint all around, LED headlights, possibly hard cover of some kind.
I just dropped my 2015 platinum off at Larry h Miller in Spokane Washington and asked for a 60k mile service. When I got down there I was shocked that they charged me 1060 dollars! There was a brake flush, transmission flush, fuel system cleaning, differential oil change on there, but nothing about 60k service. Did they get me? They never went over any of this with me. I asked why the 60k mile service is so expensive and the guy said that the 60k and the 120k are the expensive ones?

I read some other lists of stuff they do during the 60k and they didn't include all these things!

They tried to do the. Same thing to me . I have a 2018 with only 30k miles and they said I needed 900.00 worth of service. I told them just change my oil. Dealerships have become sick rip offs

This is one reason why I dont take my vehicles to the stealership for service. I bet they didnt even touch some of the stuff they've mentioned.

Happened to a friend that always takes her highlander in for service. Long story short, they advised and charged her for a service that was never performed. Good thing I caught it and we're able contact the service advisor to correct it.

Maybe lucky they didn't get you for more! Always get the cost up front for services requested. Dealerships are never the most competitive.
The fuel system clean as mentioned is an upsell, was probably just an external spray aerosol cleaner.

This is why I go over everything with my service tech BEFORE the dealership services the vehicle... I am never shocked by the bill.

I don't know....Inspect Wiper blades seems to be a pretty important part of the service. o_O

Point #1 on my Service #2 was "Check installation of driver's floor mat." they also "Reset Maintenance Reminder Light or system (which they didn't do) and "Inspect all lights and horn for proper operation"

I'm done at my dealer now that my free service has been used up. I plan on taking it to my local guy, who I trust have have been taking past vehicles to for 15+ years.

Ended up getting manager to refund all the labor. He admitted his tech had never gone over it or got me to sign off on work.

Good you got the labor refunded. I think floor mats were a recall item for gas pedals getting stuck.

I believe any competent auto tech can. Great to find one familiar or specializing with Toyota. Save your receipts. Also nice if shop reports to carfax.

Does the transmission really need new fluid at 60,000?

Thought it was 90k unless rough service. Then 60k. Even then it's a pan drain and fill, which replaces 3-4 quarts.

My 16 pro is due, thanks for sharing this. It serves as a reminder to avoid the stealer service.

Are you confusing Service advisers for a Tech? Techs only do the services they are assigned/and to inspect the vehicle and report back to the adviser what they think needs to be done. After that, its the advisers job to evaluate what the tech has recommended, check if it really needs it, and then tries to sell it to the customer. Definitely not the techs fault if you got charged for things you didn't want.

    Lots of shenanigans.
So do most of y'all steer away from doing the "60k" mile service? If so, what do you do yourself instead? I wasn't planning on taking my truck to the stealership especially if I can do it myself.

Most go by the manual recommendations for service intervals. Many of these are DIY possible for those willing , capable and enough knowledge. $$ Savings for sure and for some piece of mind that it was done correctly.

I’m at 59,700 and going to the dealership tomorrow for routine service. I’ll report back with what they say and any upselling they try to push.

60k blue service. $300. They suggested brake fluid replacement which I had done at 50k. I asked about the tranny, diff and transfer and they said it didn’t need to be done til 90k since I don’t tow.

They provided me with a free lyft to and from home
