New to forum, just picked up a 2002 3.4L Access Cab with the manual tranny. Haven't seen any other first gens that have the 3.4 with manual.

I used to have an 06 crew cab and regretted selling that truck, easily the best vehicle I have ever owned. Well, I decided to sell my f250 a couple weeks ago and go back to the first gen tundra. Picked up the 02 3.4L yesterday and am stoked about it. 150k miles. Guy said the timing belt was done, but will probably go ahead and do it again to be safe.

Does anyone else have the 3.4L with manual transmission?

Looking for any info y'all care to provide! Thanks

here's the truck cause I know everyone loves pictures

Literally cam here for the same reason. I bought a 03’ access cab 4wd 5 speed and wanted to know what’s the best place I could pickup a 5vz-fe replacement.

Greentundra why are you looking for a replacement engine? Also if you're dropping a new engine in why not put a larger one?

Welcome from Idaho! I have a 3rd Generation 2015 now and went straight to it last January from a 2002 3.4 5-Speed Manual that looked much like yours, except it was an SR-5 with cassette deck, fog lamp delete and stock steel wheels. I bought it new when looking for either a Tacoma or Frontier Crewcab. Turned out to be twice the truck, really, driving it for 18 years.

Truck looks great. Those 3.4l are great engines (albeit underpowered) my Tacoma and my fathers taco have the 3.4. Other than leaky valve covers ones gone 300k before I tore it apart for a performance build (still not done) and his is hovering the 200k mark

existing motor has 280k+ and it needs a head gasket redone. I want to keep the manual without getting to complicated. Crazy thing is I have a 2002 land cruiser and the motor on that is great and it has frame rust so I think about it.

Welcome! Here’s my 2003 3.4L with the 5 speed manual. They’re not the fastest, but are hard to find! I love mine.A4350552-73CD-4ADA-A5E3-D4EBCBD91412.jpg

Good find. When I bought my 2001, I needed a v-8, but really wanted a manual gearbox (3 pedals rule), but I had to settle for the slushbox to get the 4.7l motor. 20 years later, i still dislike the transmission, but still like the truck.
