Lasted 7 years on my 07 but keep in mind that back then the batteries were made by Johnson Controls. Damn great battery.

Funny this topic comes up, cause we went to the Toyota dealer yesterday and my wife asked how they keep all the cars ready to start, to which I stated a booster pack.

I know it's not Johnson Controls. My 07 was dated 2/07. I replaced in 2014 with a Yellow Top. The OEM battery was having no issues but was 7 years old and figured best to change it out.

Thanks for the reply. How did the Optima work out for you? I’ve heard some guys at work say their quality is not what it used to be. They seem to think Northstar is the best now.

No issues at all at 5 years old when I traded for my 14. Using a Red Top now. 2 years old. No issues. Optima is good. A Canadian company bought the entire line recently. Clarios. I've posted here extensively about the early production issues Optima had when the line was moved from here in Aurora to Mexico several years ago. We had the calibration contract up until they relocated.

There really is no best AGM but several decent ones out there. Northstars are good but there have been a few issues reported here with premature failures with them. Not many. Things happen. Odyssey's are supposed to be good. Interstate's too.

I'm not sure what you're upset about. The recalls don't affect the drivability or livability of the truck for 99.999% of drivers. The fuel pump issue is a preventative measure. The turn signal not being bright enough isn't even a recall worth talking about.

Go on over to any Ford or Ram forum and you'll see what recalls are really about. Starting with leaking sunroofs, rear windows not going down or getting stuck. Engines dying, transmissions blowing up.

Get a new battery and stop complaining.

My 4runner had a panasonic. That's most likely what they all are because Toyota and panasonic work closely on things. I never saw the Tundra battery cuz I had them switch the X2 power out of the 4 and into the Tundra when I bought it.

All batteries still need to be tended every now and then.

The big issue is "what is a recall nowadays". Most recalls used to be truly official mandated safety recalls. Most Tundra "recalls" now are simple software updates or fixing a front emblem sensor nanny that allowed moisture in. The new faulty fuel pump is a problem but not mandated. It's a common sense fix that obviously needs to be addressed.

I ran mine for recalls when I bought it. It has a open recall right now. The label for carrying capacity is wrong and needs to be replaced.

It's a Yota "recall". Not a mandated recall by the men in black.

Don't listen to these guys. They're full of crap. That craptastic Tundra doesn't need a new battery. I'm willing to bet that you have a major electrical problem.

I looked up your troublesome Tundra book value for the Minneapolis area.

    dumbass.jpg

Since your truck is obviously broken or something, and will need many, many, many hours of diagnosis time. I will give you below rough trade in value of 32000.00 sight unseen.

But wait, there's more. I will even let you decide if I fly up there, rent an apartment (since many hours of troubleshooting), repair that crappy Tundra and drive back to Colorado.

    Or....

I will drive up there with a trailer, tow it all the way home on a flatbed trailer by a GMC!!! Oh the humanity. Can you imagine all the fingers being pointed at a Tundra on a trailer? We will show them!!!

Put a battery in the truck. Offer still stands though. That's a free 10K.
