I mounted it in the stock location. It was a pain to get it there.

Has anyone done this after already upgrading speakers...sub and amp? Did upgrade a while back with a dsr1 and stock HU and doesn't quite get it done.

I did JL C1's on dash C2's on doors and JL 10 inch dual subs in back....r900 JL amp. I'd like to just swap the HU and bypass the dsr1 if I can.

So it looks like if you have stock nav and sat radio you need the sirius tuner...AND the antenna adapter that supports factory gps AND sirius antenna? I guess I did not realize the factory GPS was going to show up for anything on the Kenwood screen?

Is anyone as confused as I am????I guess you can buy the adapter from crutchfield that connects to both factory gps and factory sat antenna....the issue is this unit does not have any gps capability built in. Only if you connect wirelessly through apple car play....if you upgrade to DNR 1007XR that antenna adapter will pop up on the purchase list for crutchfield. If you hook all this up and are having GPS issues it is probably more due to your phone not the antenna...Most people that want live traffic don't spend the money on 1007XR since that is an app that goes through your phone just like WAZE. Guys I would love to be wrong on all this....

I just use wayz on mine it always connects through apple CarPlay automatically and there’s a split screen so I can watch it and see what I’m listening to.

I bought the adapter to use the stock GPS antenna but it wouldn't get a signal. Ended up using the antenna that came with the head unit. No issues since.

The DMX1057xr comes with a GPS antenna. GPS isnt software per say, rather hardware that in interfaced with software. The units have software that is used in coincidence with a GPS antenna. You can either use the ACC-SAT-TO2 and utilize the stock Toyota GPS unit or in the case of this Kenwood it comes with its own GPS antenna.

Its the small black box lying under the yellow video inputs.

I see all that but what software app is it supporting in the ken Wood HU? It doesn’t come with navigation...if you are using Waze it’s connected through CarPlay on your phone it has no connectivity I believe through a hardwired antenna.

If you want to use Wireless CarPlay, then you have to have a GPS signal. I know it doesn't have GPS in the head unit.

GPS is hardware. Apps may need GPS to function, or may function via connection to your phone, that has a GPS in it. To know where you are you need a form of GPS. Kenwood supports apps, like Waze and carplay that both use the GPS in your phone to function, or may use the GPS in your vehicle.

The DNX units are Kenwoods units with built in nav. You can add nav to a DMX by purchasing the nav unit with the stored maps, but running Waze or apple maps is much cheaper and works just as well, if not better.

I used the adapter and couldn't get it to work with the stock GPS Antenna. Had to use the one that came with the head unit.

Its not uncommon. I was lucky, my DMX906s worked with the SAT adapter. Actually worked better wireless than my other unit, the DDX7706s with wired carplay.

Yeah, I tried several times to get it to work. I got it to work once or twice but it would drop off after a couple of minutes.

    Yes, I know this.

But if you want Wireless CarPlay to work with Apple Maps, Google Maps, Waze or whatever navigation app you want to use, you have to have a good GPS antenna signal. period.

Using a GPS antenna helps with accuracy. Gets rid of any lag there maybe in direction prompts, vehicle location, and any other features, when connected wirelessly.

In order for CarPlay and Android Auto to work on the new units, you have to use the GPS antenna provided. Watch 5 star Car Stereo on YouTube about New 10" Touch Screen Radios. Learn the stuff.

I’m assuming the ACC-SAT-TOT2 Adapter Cables crutchfield sells for the oem antennas will work too?

I just got off the phone with Cruchtfield and they said if you have a Tundra that has both the Nav and sat radio now that adapter cable set will work with the 57 kenwood headunit with the factory antennas

So I guess the Kenwood provided antenna won't work? Is this what your saying?
