I think ‘58? It’s old. Funny enough I think it was there ten years ago when we painted the green 60. I had to lift both ends of a ‘58 Beetle body to get the dolly for the truck bed. Funny tiny old cars

So was hoping to have some pics of my new bestop power boards installed today but couldn’t even get as far as the initialization of the motors hooked everything up as stated the retracted and that was it. No lights sensors don’t respond did a reset of the sensor as per bestop and nothing. So now I wait for them to send me a new transmitter and receiver that are on back order
Guess you get what you pay for. Shoulda got a set of amps !!! Bad taste for bestop at the moment

I didn’t get a chance to get more during the day. They look fairly red during the day and look good. No complaints.

New quad fold hard tonneau cover for Christmas on my 2010. (Got a spare one for sale - very minor shipping damage, they told me to just keep it)

The chrome on my steering wheel/airbag center emblem was almost all worn off when I bought the 2010 truck last summer. Decided it might be too contoured for a vinyl wrap, so I removed the whole airbag unit, masked off the emblem, sanded it, and blacked it out with Plasti-Dip spray. I've had that can for YEARS and just now found a good use for it!

This is overall a fairly minor thing, but buying this truck used, it had a lot of those things that were just kinda worn. It's a new-to-me truck that I want to dress up a little.

    Before

Masked off -- I used electrical tape because it's stretchy to get in close to the emblem. I lapped it over the emblem and used a sharp knife to trim down in the groove around the edges. Then I masked the rest with blue painter's tape and paper towels.

After 3 coats of spray at 30-40 minute intervals, I wanted to remove the masking before it all cured too much. Again, I went around the edges with the knife because the Plasti-Dip was already hardening and getting stringy.

Almost the final results. I did end up doing a touchup with a toothpick as a brush where my masking wasn't tight and a slight edge of chrome was showing. I'll have to post the true "after" photo tomorrow when I can shoot it in the daylight back in the truck.

My 14-year-old son and I have connected over what else to do on this truck. We decided that blacking out the rims might look good, so for Christmas he gave me a nice heat gun and a 5'x5' roll of Vvivid matte black vinyl. Much like my steering wheel center emblem, the wheel center caps would probably be tough for a vinyl noob like me to do well. So as a first test, I popped off one center cap, and I found that the emblem is held on from behind by three little spring clips. Squeeze with a pair of needle nose pliers, and off comes the emblem! I think I might keep the emblems chromed just as a tiny accent in the middle. This is the result of my first vinyl wrapping job. Not perfect, but I think it'll do.
