Bummed about the Chicago Auto Show being canceled. Not so much because I won't get to see the New Tundra (probably), but mainly because flying my son and I up there for the week to see the show, and the city was his 16th birthday present, where I was going to tell him he was getting my 14 Tundra, and helping me customize the new 2021 I'm going to get.

I'm still in the process of calling dealers about stock, but strongly thinking order may be the best route. Didn't even occur to me that ordering may be out of the question, so a cement SR5 with low options may be the best course. I'll just do my own Cement Pro style build, on the cheap, since a TRD Pro is probably not in the cards as I haven't found one for MSRP, so far.

between covid shutdowns, chip shortages , model changeover, i wouldnt be shocked to see 21’s become one of the lowest sales years for this generation.

Didn't want the decal but something in the way it was ordered, triggered the decal. Had the dealership switch out the chrome for green and the pro grill, looks awesome with the brown leather

Well, that's certainly unsettling news for someone who has been waiting for a TRD Pro allocation for the last 5+ weeks. I planned to reach out to my dealer next week for an update. Hopefully this won't be a large volume reduction and it'll still get fulfilled. I have to say, I'm getting more and more nervous with every passing week....

I ordered a ‘21 Pro and paid msrp. Took delivery 3 weeks ago (ordered Aug. 22). May not be possible now but it wouldn’t hurt to try.

This thread bumping led me to call my salesperson earlier for an update. I'm almost 8 weeks since deposit and finally have an allocation, VIN, and build/delivery date for a '21 PRO. What's most interesting and telling is that my build date isn't until late-March with a delivery date of mid-April. Assuming it tracks on that course, it will be almost 5 months from start to finish. Was originally told it would take "8-10 weeks" at the time of deposit. Crazy times.

    Hey all,

I'm new around here and I'm trying to get into a '21 Tundra TRD Pro in lunar rock. Obviously, right now there is no inventory, so I decided to place an order. I went to a dealer where I already had quotes from and they were all about monthly payments without even "building" the truck. It was mind-boggling that they were giving me a monthly payment estimate without the cost of the truck figured out. I kept telling them to show me the price of the truck and to itemize the deal so I could see where they came up with the monthly payment but they kept deflecting. They finally revealed they were giving me numbers for a $57,600 truck with a bunch of options when the truck I want is MSRP at $54914 with only a locking tailgate option. They also told me that the truck could maybe come with other stuff on it like a spray-in liner, or running boards and would be out of their control even for a special order and I'd have to pay for however it came....again mind-boggling. Is this a typical experience when ordering a Pro? Or are these guys just making things difficult?

Also if there is a better thread, please point me in that direction.

    Thanks!

Your experience is not like mine. I was able to order my truck with exactly the options I wanted. Try another dealer.

Just went through the whole song and dance with multiple dealers. They can absolutely control what comes on that truck, above MSRP, but know they don't have to, and I'm confident they make more profit on those extras, than they do the base model. Someone will buy that truck, as soon as, if not before, it hits their parking lot, if you don't. This is that perfect storm scenario where the dealer pretty much holds the cards. I elected to purchase a pro, which had options I didn't intend on getting, mainly because I wanted what I wanted, and didn't want to walk away just because of 5% that won't break me. Ideal? No. But I do have the truck I wanted, so and feel good about the decision.

Atypical, but perhaps they are just trying to secure one that's been or scheduled to be built but not yet allocated. That's probably the fastest way these days to make that happen as a factory build is an extremely slow process. Agreed with the other folks, however, I'd find another dealer. I was able to order one to my preferred specs without issue.

our 2021 is getting closer. We picked one already in the pipeline, an MGM SR5 upgrade 4x4 DC. Shipped 1/25, should be at the dealer tomorrow or Friday. $3000 off MSRP, plus tax is a deal in this environment. Selling our sound but battered body 2011 DC SR5 4x4 120,000 miles to our son for $14,000, its a good deal for him. Vroom and Carvana offered only $11,000 because of the left side body damage and they suck if your truck is more than 4 years old. Not going to let the workers drive this new one ever- they can drive the F250

I originally had a 2021 DC Army Green ordered in late September. Got rejected by Toyota so I decided to pick up a left over 2020 MGM DC in October for cheap. Glad I made that call as I cooled quickly on the Army Green color, and picked up a truck before they all seem to have disappeared.

Only two dealers offered to even order one when I was looking. Estimated arrival date was 8-16 weeks...

I ordered Oct 13th and just talked to my sales person who checked with inventory manager that NO we still dont see anything assigned to our order yet. At this point almost 4 months in and no end in sight, i might have to start looking at different colors.

I think parallel tracking might be the best path. Put in the allocation deposit since it's refundable and continue your search. If you find what you're looking for on the market, buy it and get a refund. If not, perhaps the allocation gets filled.

Our 2021 came yesterday. Three weeks from first picking it in the pipeline. 4x4, SR5 with the convenience package, spray in bedliner and the running boards, $39,000 plus Georgia sales tax. Same equipment as the 2011- We set it up just like the 2011: Ranch Hand Legend grill guard, Husky liners and the TRD RSB. It is just what we wanted. Miller Martin Toyota in Oakwood GA was wonderful to work with. Sold the 2011 to our son for $14,000 (paid $27,000 plus tax in January 2011; 116,000 miles; it has some big dents on the passenger side in both doors and the bed). Installing the grill guard, we could not get one of the bumper nuts loose (gorillaed on there) and ended up rounding the shoulders on the nut fighting it, and hubby broke the 14mm ratcheting wrench on it. Tried 4 auto repair places but they all were immediately negative about it and wouldn't fool with it- typical attitude towards women. BIL suggested a body shop - starting driving up north and found Vietnamese body shop on Buford Highway and with some sign language he somehow got it off for $35, something about "big wrench pipe", Unique Auto Body they were great as well.

I had similar experience with them and I lived a mile away at the time. Ended up getting the exact same truck from Toyota of Boerne for $4k less. I would echo your warning to others thinking about using them.

Yeah how’d you go about getting this in army green? Tried ordering one but it doesn’t give the option for limited or 1794 in green.

Ordered a TRD PRO DC back on Oct. 13th and just got a build date from my dealer of March 29th! That's 24 wks, not including delivery time...crazy! I'm in a small VT market, so obviously my order got "bumped" a bit?! Hopefully the dealer honors my Tacoma trade we agreed upon...I've kept the mileage under 1K over the past 15wks.
